When our team tried the swish robot, we constantly kept facing the problem where the string caught on the side of the gear and wound up instead of winding properly on the spool. Did anyone else have this problem?
We never had this problem when we built the Swish bot. RoboReggie, are you using the spool from the second-generation competition kits or jury-rigging something from first-generation parts? I have seen people use standoffs instead of the spool, which causes the string to wander off to one side of the winding mechanism.
My team didn’t, but a suggestion is to limit the space around the spool(get rid of some spacers), or reduce the length of the string(my team cut the string shorter and tied it around a shaft).
Did you put the string hole in the right place?
