Think Award

Hey, I’m entering my second year of vex and I am set on trying to win the Think Award this year. I am just curious as to what I need to do and what previous winners have done to win this award. I have (I hope) explained all my code so far strongly in the notebook, but how do I stand out? A cool thing I have is that I don’t use a template and made my own brain screen and PID functionality, but I feel like there surely needs to be more. Thanks for the help!

Look at this topic. It may help.

THINK award winners, How did you do it?

Hey @srij1 , welcome to the forums!

First of all, it’s great to hear that you’re setting goals for your team. just make sure to not confine yourself by focusing solely on the think award — it might not even qualify.

Otherwise, I think you have a nice start with what you already have! Imo continue expanding on your unique aspects. a page or two dedicated to that topic at the beginning of or clearly marked in your notebook would help emphasize your strongest points.

Something we tried last year was emphasizing not just how good our code was, but also what made it good — like, how we managed it. We utilised git last year and dedicated a few pages to diagrams and explanations of its advantages and how we used it. i feel like a lot of teams just insert a picture of their code — don’t do that, explaining your process gets you points.

also remember, I’m not an official JA, so take what I say with a grain of salt :')

Good luck!
