I’m looking for tips and advice on designing a chassis for Override. For example, what kind of gear ratios and wheel sizes are best?
So that is a complicated question because before this season most teams would have said a 450 rpm drivebase, 66 watts, and 3.25 inch wheels was the standard or closet to a one size fits all. But because of the motor limit this year and how the field is set up, that may not be the meta drivebase. So I would say figure out what type of robot your team is going to build using the Engineering Design Process and then decide what drivebase works for your team. If you end up building a heavier robot, a 600 rpm drivebase won’t really work well and it also depends on what your driver is comfortable with. You don’t want to build a super slow drivebase and your driver can’t do anything and vice versa. And if you have to, prototype some and write everything that wnt in the decision process and the solution i your notebook

This thread by @Xenon27 should be useful for finding good drivetrain layouts for your team , although I would not recommend using the faster gear ratios, since they’re meant for 66 watt drivetrains. Also remember that the 5.5 watt motor needs to be geared at a 3:1 ratio compared to the rest of the drivetrain if utilizing the blue cartridges.
