I have seven years of experience using VEX Tournament Manager. However, this season, I have been unable to launch the application on my Mac.
I can set up new tournaments without any issues, but whenever I close the app and try to open the database file I created, the application crashes every time. I have attempted to resolve this problem by using a different user account, but the same issue persists. Additionally, I deleted the cache and preference files and reinstalled the app, but none of these steps have worked.
I have been struggling with this issue for over six months now. The convention operates on an old Windows PC, but it would be very helpful if VEX Tournament Manager could run on my Mac, as I would prefer not to incur additional expenses.
The best place to post questions and get answers about using Tournament Manager is in the Tournament Manager category in the Event Partners group. It is a private group on the VEX Forum, so if you are not a member you need to reach out to your RSM.
Once you close TM, use Activity Monitor to force quit the application and make sure that the webserver applications have also closed. Normally, an error will pop up that one or more of the applications is not responding. This normally works, if not, reinstalling the application has helped in the past. TM has struggled with MacOS for years, and since the introduction of Apple Silicon, has become nearly unusable.
P.S. If you haven’t already, make sure that Airplay Receiver is turned off.
Thanks. I have done everything you have described, but I still cannot open the database file.
One thing I have noticed. With a new database file that I just created, the TM application could open it. However, with database files with plenty of data after the competition, the TM application always crashes.
Not sure if this is still a bug or if you’ve already done this, but check if the region of your Mac is set to the United States. When I’ve used TM on Mac this usually was an issue, although it should’ve prevented you from going any farther than the setup wizard so I’m guessing that this might not be the issue.
Looks into it further , looks like you have slightly different symptoms . As I can. Open old files fine, but tm crashes after the wizard is run and will not save the setup event properly. I’ve sent files of to support
