I think it’s just going to come down to what’s already stacked and grabbing that.
assuming you can get near 15 of one color in 90 seconds then sure but i doubt its going to be easy to be picky with colors either. Not to mention you simply cant defend more than one tower at a time.
If you were confident that your robot is better than theirs, you could go for a safe strategy and win simply because you are faster and you scored more cubes.
However, for a weaker, more desperate robot, they could still win a match using good strategy and focusing on a single color. Risk vs reward.
It actually wouldn’t be that hard if u had an intake system that could hold 3, 4, or even 5 at once. I’ve been thinking about one.
I greatly appreciate your use of the word “special.” Really made my day lol
That’s what I’m here for
One idea would be to score whatever cubes you can into the goal zones, but put special emphasis on one or two colors. Then, when the match is almost over, you would make sure the cubes in the towers match the colors you have more of than your opponents.
On the other hand, if you wait until the end of the match to decide what color cubes you want in the towers, your opponents may have put cubes there already, and it might be hard to get them out.
Having more cubes in the towers (no matter what color) will increase your SP’s (and your own points), which will be helpful as long as your opponents don’t end up with more cubes of that color than you do.
Its going to be interesting to see how auton plays out. Your preload color is clustered on the other side of the field, making it an interesting strategey game with the other alliance to see what color they put in the tower if they put any in there. You also have to decide whether its worth putting a cube in your towers to multiply your score or take a risk and see if the other alliance can do that for you. Scouting autons of the opposing alliance to maximize that score seems like it will become very important
Just want to make sure you understand that there are an even amount of each color on either side of the field, and that the “preload” is actually a matchload, and cannot be used during autonomous.
Edit: I stupid
Each robot starts with a preload at the beginning of the match per SG1. There are an even number of cubes, but if you are the red alliance, the orange cubes are grouped in 2s and the greens are not
- Not contacting any Cubes other than the Preload.
- Contacting a Preload.
a. The Preload must be contacting exactly one (1) Robot.
b. The Preload must be fully within the field perimeter.
So it talks about preloads, but later it also talks about those cubes being matchloads
Match Load entry. Drive Team Members may introduce Match Loads during the Driver Controlled Period by placing them gently onto a gray foam field tile such that they satisfy the following
conditions:
- Contacting the field perimeter wall on the side that coincides with their Alliance’s Goal Zones
and Alliance Station.- Contacting the gray foam field tiles.
- Not contacting a Tower.
- Not contacting any Cubes besides another Match Load.
- Not contacting a Goal Zone or a Barrier.
- Not contacting a Robot.
So are these two cubes matchloads or preloads, or both?
as far as i understand, matchloads are the two purple cubes you receive if you win autonomous
That is what I understood as well.
Oh snap U right
Preload – The Cube, one (1) per Robot, that must be placed on the field such it satisfies the conditions in
prior to the start of the Match.
Match Load - One of two (2) purple Cubes that may be entered at any point during the Driver Controlled
Period by the winner of the Autonomous Bonus in accordance with .
Actually it’s reversed - on red side the green cubes are adjacent. On blue side the orange cubes are adjacent.
Really wide wall bots that extend on the opponents side of the field and drive backward pushing the cubes on your side for your team mate to stack.
