Hello! My students decided to move from working in a physical notebook to a digital one part way through the season. When they submit the combined notebook documentation in Robot Events for judging which of the following would you recommend?
The documentation of their engineering process is in chronological order across the transition from physical to digital.
Two separate tables of contents with corresponding pages for each? The scanned physical notebook would have a table of contents with page numbers beginning at 1 and the digital notebook would have a table of contents also beginning at page 1.
One table of contents. The table of contents would begin at page 1 in the physical notebook and continue numerically through the digital notebook.
Simple - scan first notebook as pdf, then generate pdf from digital - paste the two together .
submit the hybrid notebook for event.
table of contents - make two section TOC pdf
Whatever works for your team, as long as it is structured in a way that make sense for judges and they can explain why they changed hardcopy to digital that benefits their design process is a good thing.
The latter option would be clearer as judges will expect the table of contents to be at the beginning. Although you could write on the original contents page what page the digitall one is, but that is just more page flipping. Your team could write a note or some kind of message on the table of contents page indicating what page they made the switch.
