After a first semester using VEX IQ to teach a robotics class in Middle School, a few pieces have gone missing (Shocking, I know!). I am reluctant to steal from the spare kit I use, so I have been lookng for some replacement parts. I see on the VEX IQ site there are a few packs with spare parts available. My part (Triple 2x wide 2x2 Corner Connector) seems only to be available in the “Corner Connector Advanced Pack,” though the parts appear to be black instead of white like the originals. Is this the right pack for me, or am I missing some other way to get spare parts?

In our organization (a community team with 6+ IQ teams), we have a complete competition superkit for every team, and I keep “in the back room” a complete superkit plus a complete “IQ System Bundle”. This gives me all the spare parts I might need for over a year or more. and rarely have to make “emergency purchases” or buy single packs (other than maybe batteries and motors), which is the most expensive way to purchase parts.
Discounting of parts only happens when buying superkits and bundles, and shipping is expensive on small orders. I never order less than about $500, which usually makes shipping costs about 10% of the order…a perfectly reasonable cost if you ignore Amazon.com’s “free shipping” and use “real world” shipping costs. Since I run a small business on the side, I use my business’s UPS account to save a few dollars on shipping.
