Trying to make a literal tank of a vex IQ bot

This is Jerm the Juggernaut! Has the characteristics of a tank: It’s big! It’s insanely durable! And it’s… not strong (in the sense of moving this thing only has 2 motors so if those stop touching the floor it’s helpless, which leads to —>), or heavy. (In the back only, so it’s prone to being lifted and dragged by grapplers in the back)

As such I sort of need external information on how exactly I need to achieve making it have a powerful drive so it dosen’t become helpless the moment the back wheels stop touching the floor, and how to make it considerably heavier in the back.

(I have no idea what I’m doing this is just for fun)

You could link the back wheels with the front gears with some gears to make it a four-wheel drive. Also, consider making a flywheel as a shooting mech for fun?

Making the chassis longer so the weight is between the 4 wheels would be a start.

Connect with gears / chains the front wheels to the back (driven wheels)

Or if you really want to be in beast mode, build a 6 wheel drive (3 on each side) and drive all three sets of wheels.

Vex makes these shock absorbers you might consider getting a pack and use them to help balance the load.

Good luck on the “tank”

you could use tank treads if you want to make it an actual “tank”?

I was actually thinking about it a few weeks after High Stakes was revealed. :joy: :joy: :joy:

Maybe use tread, as that way you always have something touching the ground? Also it might be a good idea to use 4 motors instead of 2.

The unfortunate thing is that there is only Vex IQ kits ¯_(ツ)_/¯

To make your robot heavier, use Vex IQ flywheel weights. They are heavy. If you do not have them, use 250 mm wheels with 250 mm travel tires. I have used both in BattleBots before. I generally use flyweights for counterweights and tires for hammers. Tires are bigger, so they are better for hammers, but I suggest flyweights.
