Went to competition on Saturday, ended up burning 4 different ports, all from different motors. The motors weren’t hot whatsoever and usually burnt the port during the autonomous period. It probably isn’t static electricity because no other team at the comp had this problem. It may have something to do with the battery you are using or the cortex may be faulty since that’s what we summed our problem up to.
We have tried using staticide on the wheels and found it to be ineffective.
What we do for the events we compete and volunteer at is email the event partner ahead of time asking if they have staticide for the fields. If they do not, we bring enough to staticide for all the competition fields and spray them when the doors open (with permission from the EP).
I have seen too many dead ports, dead motors, and white screens of death. I really hope the staticide is included in the EP kit next year to make its use standardized. I have never seen any of those issues emerge when the fields had staticide applied.
