Hey! Team 28102S here, I was wondering if you people on the forum also think the IQ Gen 2 batteries are unreliable. if so please tell me your encounter with them. In a recent match, I was the 2nd driver, and at the last second, when I could’ve gotten a 2-stack in the center goal area to get extra points, our bot’s battery went under 50%, and our right motor gave out. I checked the motor, it’s your average, fully functioning motor, yet our battery is the problem! We are under the motor limit, and our motor just stopped! (I’ve seen some posts on this, but you can share your stories here.)
From my experience, wires, motors, brains, controllers, and batteries can be unreliable. To me, the only one that really stands out are controllers since the drifting can be really bad. All the others have problems, but should be able to be mostly relied on, in my opinion. Depending on when you got the battery, I would call Vex support.
None of our gen 2 batteries had that problem. Your batteries might be broken because my team uses pneumatics(pneumatics drain your batteries) on our robot too, and our battery lasted a whole day of competing.
My son’s team has reliability issues any time under around 55% indicated battery charge. They usually can go an entire competition (alliance and 6 skills runs) but have power banks on hand in the event they have any concerns.
We have 4 motors and one LED sensor
My team also drives around a lot for just the coolness of driving around a bit of our own creation, so we usually just have 2 batteries, because the 1st always goes under 50%.
