So I’ve been discussing with my team about using coated, flexible copper wire as a “string”, in which it would actually be a brush to ground the robot chassis to eliminate any static. Would this be legal as it’s basically a string? The rules don’t explicitly state anything about wire that fits in the dimensions required for string.
Well, why do you have static?
We don’'t currently, but for states we want to try to eliminate that risk as much as we possibly can. Most of the fields we use haven’t been coated with antistatic compound. Though I am aware that the fields at states will likely be treated as they should be.
It doesn’t hurt to be too safe yk?
I dont think you need it. Ive never heard of that as an issue, and I think you have bigger problems with your bot has static
Technically this would be legal under the current game manual, provided that the “strings” are secure and wont expand out of bounds or pose an egregious risk of entanglement.
However, I don’t really see this as a viable solution… especially since you guys don’t seem to have much problems with it.
A lot of apparent static problems were found to just be other stuff - like “dead ports” just having a bent prongs.
