V5 Battery Life

How do I know if our V5 batteries are completely DONE and no longer working? I inherited this robotics class and it seems that 12 of our batteries are no longer charging; no lights are coming on at all!

VEX Officially states that their V5 batteries can withstand around 2000 charging cycles, so past that number theres no gurantee the battery will remain functional.
You can usually tell if a battery is broken if after turning it on, it flashes two red LEDs instead of displaying the battery level, or if no LEDs turn on at all.

I bought a new kit, and hardly used the battery for a week, and now it is not charging. Fortunately I had a backup, so I could go to the competition. Looks like the batteries are pretty unreliable sadly.

If they have been left completely discharged for several months, they are probably dead. What’s the date code on the back ? It will look something like this, 19245AT

If you recently bought the kit, contact vex support and request a replacement.
