V5 Flex Wheels vs Straight Flex Wheels on Vex online shop

As the title suggests, there are currently 2 listing for flex wheels one being only for VEX PRO and the other for V5,PRO and EXP, the descriptions spec and listings seem the same, only that the PRO ones are in stock, my team (UK/London based) need some for our build and tournament in 3 weeks and want to buy the ones we will get in time but only if they are legal, I can’t seem to find a thread addressing this and therefore I am consulting the masses.
Kind regards,
Team Vulcan 10743X

PRO/in stock: Straight Flex Wheels (21 Choices) - VEX Robotics

For the PRO ones, it is most definitely not legal as It doesn’t say it is, while the multi-use ones say what they’re legal for. So, you should not buy the PRO ones.

I am also looking for some sort of explanation on the differences as I am very confused!

I think the issue is that only some of the flex wheels are V5RC legal.

I would assume any part number listed on the V5 page is legal even if bought from the ‘PRO’ page. I would be careful to ensure you only order cross-listed part numbers.

@76782A_Thompson, this is actually incorrect. In fact, ALL of the Flex wheels are in fact legal. I’m assuming you saw the High Steaks meta last year. (at least once) If you look, there is flex wheels there. A majority of people used flex wheels. By the way, @bkahl, or somebody, could VEX make more flex wheels than last year? We were in a ‘drought’ if you will, for Flex wheels the previous year.

Nope. If you looked on the website, you would see that the “Straight flex wheels” were only legal for FTC and FRC. The normal flex wheels are marked v5, exp, and pros, which means they are legal for V5RC. I don’t understand the difference between the two, but one is legal and the other isn’t.

Ah I see.Thanks @60_Percent_C_Channel

Teresa pretty much hit the nail on the head, here.

The two separate web pages exist to make it explicitly clear which sizes are V5RC Legal.

Awesome thanks! Also is there somewhere to see average shipping times from VEX store UK as can’t seem to find!

shoot [email protected] an email, they’ll be able to help ya out

This is what happened in my VRC team today, actually. My school, the school board, actually ordered the wrong Flex wheels. They were obviously pro wheels. What should we do with them?

If unopened, call VEX Sales support, you might be able to just send them back for refund or credit. If they are all opened - ugh - still call VEX and they may be able to help you out.

People sorted parts in the morning. I have no idea how they missed this.

Maybe you could give the parts to younger kids that aren’t in robotics, just a thought though. I think it would be kind to donate them and bring more publicity to vex in your school.

Wearing them as hats sounds funny. Making an 8 motor drivetrain for a workbench that uses the flex wheels would be cool, using them as ‘tennis balls’ so when chairs slide around, they don’t screech, then, again, there is resell, and goodwill. Using it for an early Christmas present, send it to @DRow via sending it to the IFI facility off of the highway in Texas…

The original question was answered, no need to keep posting comments that add nothing to the discussion.
