V5 Motor died with loud high pitched noise

Do you know where exactly the temperature is being measured. Is it motor casing, external sensor, or an integrated H-Bridge sensor?

The sensor is not ideally located, it’s on the pcb, not on the motor casing.
H-Bridge has its own internal over temperature detection IIRC.

Could it be that it is good at reading steady / slow temperature changes, but would not be able to detect fast increases due to shock loads, until it is too late?

Also, when firmware makes decision to shutdown, does it look at only temperature, or the current and voltage readings are taken into consideration as well?

motor firmware current reduction is only based on temperature. We initially go to 1/2 current, then 1/4, then 1/8 and finally disable completely.
