V5 Motor mount

The best alternative that I was able to find last year was the 6-32 threaded insert:

Luckily, there are commercially available alternatives that are even better than what comes with V5 motors. Here is the manufacturer link: https://www.biscoind.com/LynTronInc/AA6921D-0.437-00

Below is the picture with V5’s 8-32 motor inserts on the left and 6-32 replacements on the right. Leftmost insert is in the good condition and second from left started shredding some threads just after 3 mounts/dismounts. On the right is the commercially available replacement as it is shipped (it is slightly longer than original) and second from right is when it filed to have shorter length and with rounded bottom edges to match the shape of the V5 originals:

However, if you couldn’t get those, the next best solution could be to screw a 1" standoff coupler into a broken insert and use a nut on the other end to secure a motor. It is possible, but tricky to secure the coupler with Loctite without further damaging the loose threads. Here is an example:

As @M8R and other have said you don’t want to leave motor dangling on the broken inserts or shifting under even the smallest of the loads, because that could add a lot of friction to the shaft and possibly damage plastic motor base.
