Vex Drones AP

Hi,

Is there a way I can find the MAC Address/AP names of the vex air drones so my network admin can whitelist them? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

We do not support Wi-Fi connections to the drone. Currently, we only support downloading programs via USB to the controller.

Thank you for the reply. What is the communication protocol between the controller and drone then? My network admin is trying to troubleshoot why at one of our campuses, the drones keep losing connection to the controller. He is wondering if the controller creates an AP that the drone connects to.

What version is the VEXOS on the controller? You can find the version at the bottom of the settings menue.

The controller and drone are both upgraded to Firmware version 1.0.1.0. SDK 1.0.233

Thank you. Yes, that version sets up an AP for the drone to connect to. We’re currently developing a new version that improves connection stability in noisy environments and we hope to release it soon.

Thank you Josiah. Any suggestions in the mean time to ease our issues with our Air Marshall System that wants to block rogue AP’s? Our network admin is attempting to get as much info as he can so he can whitelist them.

I wasn’t aware that you were blocking rogue APs. That will still be an issue after the update. Your IT department should be able to scan for the hidden SSID and whitelist the AP for that controller.

Yes. air-hornet-***** where * is random numbers and letters.
