## Forum Rules

Welcome to the VEX Forum! We please insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below.

Although the administrators and moderators of the forum will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of the forum, nor the developers of esoTalk will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that contain abusive content or otherwise obscene, inflammatory, insulting, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or violative of any laws. We expect you to conduct yourself in a professional and helpful manner.

The forum owners reserve the right to remove any thread or post which does not relate to the topic being discussed in the forum. In addition, they reserve the right to reorganize discussion forums in order to best serve the majority of our members. (ie: topics and posts may, at a moderators discretion, be relocated to a more appropriate discussion forum, edited, or deleted entirely).

Curse words and/or vulgarity will not be tolerated and will be edited or deleted by a moderator. This also includes the use of vulgarities in abbreviations or acronyms. After multiple offenses, disciplinary action may be taken in the form of a temporary/permanent ban from the site.

‘Bump’ posts, or anything similar, are not allowed and will be deleted without notice.

Users agree not to post the same message in multiple forums, or use the forums as a real-time chat, continuing a 2-3 person conversation on for numerous posts in a short period of time.

Creating multiple accounts for a single person is not allowed.

The owners of these forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread or post for any reason.

The owners of these forums also reserve the right to remove your membership and access to the site at any time, with or without warning.

The owners of the forums reserve the right to modify these rules as needed, without notice. Check these rules often for updates and changes. Notification of major rule changes will normally be given.

Thanks again, and happy posting!

'Bump" posts are illegal even if asking for help, and no one responds within a reasonable amount of time (2-3 days)?

If this is the case, is asking the same question again 3 days later also illegal?

I don’t see anything wrong with bumping a post in that situation. The purpose of this rule is to keep users from reviving old threads for seemingly no reason.

Ok, thank you!

Can moderators see private messages?

Foster’s rule of computer security: If it’s on a computer, someone other than the people that you think are “allowed” to read it can read it.

If you only put things on the computer that you’d like other people to be OK reading then you’ll be fine.

I know I asked karthik once if he could and he said no. That is not to say that the head support staff could not gain access if it was necessary. If you are afraid of someone seeing secret designs and discussions then you have nothing to worry about. If your afraid of them gleaming private information or something you can choose to not use the vexforum for that sort of communication but in all honesty you have nothing to worry about.

Couldn’t have said it better.

Thanks for the answer. Our team has a private “ideas” message.

In the forum rules it states that the forum cannot be used as a live chatroom.
Can private conversations be used that way?

Yes it can. This rule is only in place to keep clutter out of the public forum.

It seems like more and more people are forgetting some of the basic forum rules. Namely, “Please try to conduct yourself in a professional and helpful manner.”

I suggest if you haven’t read them in awhile (or ever), that you please do so now.

What is a “bump” post?

Generally speaking, a “bump” post is a post solely meant to get a thread back to the top of the thread list

can i program my robot with shadow boxing controls like in real steal not in Antonius but is driver control.

Please create a new thread in a relevant channel and ask your question there, paying attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall clarity to ensure the community can correctly understand your question.

Do not simply post your question in a thread in which it is irrelevant, especially if the thread in which you post is, like this thread, not active.

Does the same apply for university VEXU?

All rules listed in the first post of this thread apply to all end-users of this forum, regardless of affiliation with VEX and/or RECF.

If your question relates to VRC Turning Point game rules, as your screenshot implies, then please first read the game manual and consult the Official Q&A; then create a new thread in a relevant channel and ask your question there, being specific to ensure correct community understanding.

If you are 100% certain your question has not already been clearly officially answered (either in the game manual or in preexisting Official Q&A entries), then you should post your question in the Official Q&A.

I apologize for potentially seeming passive-aggressive; I just am somewhat of a stickler for forum etiquette. Proper demonstration of forum etiquette makes it significantly easier for those of us potentially with answers to help others seeking answers.
