How do we pair the IQ controller with VEX Go competition robot?
Hello, welcome to the forum! I dont think the Vex GO robot can be controlled by the IQ controller. If your trying to pair a IQ brain to a controller heres a article by VEX: https://kb.vex.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406901409428-Pairing-a-Controller-2nd-gen-to-Brain-2nd-gen-IQ
NOTE: This is for a Gen 2 Brain and Controller.
I don’t think the IQ controller works with VEX Go, I thought you needed to use a tablet type device.
This video appears to show a VEX GO kit being controlled by an IQ controller, so it must be possible:
Just an engineering demo as far as I know.
We’re working on a KB article with animations to show how to connected a IQ (2nd gen) or EXP controller to a VEX GO Brain… should be posted sometime next week. In the mean time, here’s the steps on how to perform this:
Pairing the GO Brain with VEX IQ (2nd Gen) or EXP Controller: Step-by-Step Guide
Setup Note:
Ensure that the devices are up-to-date with the latest firmware fully charged to prevent disruptions during the pairing process.
Step 1: Power Up
GO Brain: Press the power button to turn it on.
VEX IQ (2nd Gen) or EXP Controller: Similarly, press the power button to power it on.
Step 2: Position Devices
Ensure that the GO Brain and the Controller are in close proximity to ensure optimal connectivity.
Step 3: GO Brain - Pairing Mode Activation
Action: Quickly double-tap the GO Brain’s power button.
Indicator: The power button LED will illuminate a solid yellow, signaling that the GO Brain is now in pairing mode.
Step 4: Controller - Pairing Mode Activation
Action for VEX IQ: Hold down the two shoulder buttons labeled “R-Up” and “R-Down” and double-tap the Controller’s power button.
Action for EXP Controller: Hold down the two shoulder buttons labeled “R1” and “R2” and double-tap the Controller’s power button.
Indicator: The power LED on the Controller will blink yellow, indicating it is ready to pair.
Step 5: Establishing Connection
Successful Pairing Indicator: When a connection is established, the LED on the GO Brain and the Link LED on the Controller will blink green.
Important Note:
The pairing configuration is temporary and will not be retained after the devices are powered off. Users must repeat the above steps to re-establish connectivity upon each use.
Tips for Troubleshooting:
- Ensure both devices are adequately charged and firmware is on the latest version.
- If the devices do not pair, repeat steps 3-5, ensuring that you follow the actions and check the indicators closely.
- For consistent connectivity, always ensure that the devices are in close range, preferably within a few feet of each other.
GO Brain Device Default Configuration:
1 - Right Drive Motor (Right Stick drive)
2 - Motor, LED or Magnet (Controlled by Left buttons (IQ: E-Up / E-Down, EXP: Up / Down)
3 - Motor, LED or Magnet (Controlled by Right buttons (IQ: F-Up / F-Down, EXP: A / B)
4 - Left Drive Motor (Right Stick Drive)
Kind of like a mean joke…
Having used VEX-GO for a year now, it sure would be a great feature, if it would be physically possible.
That’s what I meant - I found exactly the same thing on YouTube and several others…that’s why I’m confused.
