VEX IQ Gen 2 Brain Update VexOS Corruption

One of my students’ brains has been asking for a VexOS update for a while now.

Normally, we go through the standard procedure for updating brains with VEX Code but this one was quite different. Namely, it refused to connect to my laptop through USB.

Checking device manager, it showed up under USB controllers with the message of an invalid device descriptor. I’ve tried the standard uninstall, reinstall and the turn off and on methods for troubleshooting with no merit.

What’s more odd, every time I rebooted the brain, the display became progressively more corrupted, starting with a few colourful stripes and progressing into half the screen being corrupted.

If anyone has any fix for this (factory resetting the brain without use of the settings menu or a way to deal with this using a Windows machine), help would be appreciated.

contact VEX support, see if they can do anything for you based on how old the brain is. There’s no saving that one, it’s dead.

Thanks for the swift reply.

Upon inspection, I’m making a very rough guess that the brain was dropped and that somehow damaged the internals to this point.

Regardless, thanks for the help and we’ll look into what happened.
