VEX IQ Rubber Bands... What came in the Gen 2 kit?

OK! There are a couple of non-#64 rubber bands that came with the new kit. They may be technically rubber belts… not sure the difference other than that the bands we can buy commercially and the belts we cannot.

The BIG band that came with the new kit is really cool. We got 4 kits, each kit had one. At first I thought that was the #117b BUT when I bought #117b they were similar but not the same.

The other one that came with the kit I’m pretty sure is a #32. Not too concerned about them though.

SO, does what I purchased look like a legal #117b? How can I get more of the big bands if they are legal, or are they belts?

Based on matching it up with a #64 it looks like it would be a 137 band. Rubber band size chart. Slightly wider would be a 7C. If we ask @Sidoti maybe they can say.

Any thoughts here?

Thanks!

The large Silicone Rubber band (228-2500-470) is emulating a #177B but with non allergenic silicone. It is thicker so the weaker silicone can have a similar overall strength to the standard latex rubber bands.

There is not yet a pack to buy these bands individually but they are almost exactly the same as two #64 rubber bands from the 228-6634 pack tied together.

The other rubber bands in the kit are a 2x30mm Square Rubber band (228-2500-1225) and a #32 style silicone rubber band. (228-2500-468)

R8e does state that “Rubber bands that are identical in length and thickness to those included in the VEX IQ product line” are legal, however the IQ Band is thicker so it is a legal grey area.

They should be similar to use for practice bots at the very least.

Hope this helps!
