LEAVE A COMMENT ABOUT YOUR IDEAS FOR THE MARCH 1ST TUTORIAL! :+1:

I feel like a scoring tutorial would be good, just based off of how my sister teams can’t really score.

Good Idea! However, what kind of scoring are you talking about, just scoring blocks in a match or scoring the match after it’s finished?

Just be careful that your series is not counted as whole counting. (Ahem… BEN LIPPER!!) I really don’t want another sg3 and sg5 saga again.

… that the best mentor that you ever had is me, aka, @24523B!

I personally would be leaning towards scoring blocks during the match due to its importance. (Will be watching this when it comes out!)

Once the Match begins, Robots may expand vertically beyond the
18” starting size limit within the following criteria:
a. No part of the Robot may exceed an overall height of 22” at any point during the Match (must always
be able to fit within a hypothetical 22”x22”x22” cubic sizing box).

Prior to the start of each Match, each Preload must be
placed such that it meets all of the following criteria:
a. Contacting one Robot of the same Alliance color as the Preload.
b. Not contacting the same Robot as another Preload.
c. Not contacting or within the volume of a Goal or Loader.
Note: If a Robot is not present for their Match, then that Robot’s Preload may be used as a Match
Load in accordance with .

I know this is a little nitpicky, but it would literally take 5 seconds to find the topic with the correct rules.

Additionally (sorry mods for making these 2 posts instead of one), Ben Lipper does not provide robots for holecounting. I have apologized for any derogatory statements that I have said, but I didn’t delete the post so that people reading the post in the future would have the context necessary to read some of the thread. He also made a point to emphasize that his robots are for inspiration, not copying, in his last video. He deserves credit for going to the trouble of getting his videos approved and consistently stating that his robots are not for holecounting. I don’t think he was a very good example for you to put here, but that is just my opinion.

I believe you mean G2, G4, and R2.

why not?

At the beginning of this topic, there was a whole argument about this, and the outcome was that Ben Lipper did not intend to allow holecounting. This was decided when his brother, @FRC973, confirmed it.

Yep, sounds good! Will definitely be one of the main ones to choose from. Thank You!

Yes, yes I do. My mistake.

Personally, I think you should do a guide on motor sharing/Ratchets. I think this video is great, but if people are going to watch the whole series of videos, you want it to be complete, and Ratchets are super useful to know about.

While apppreciate you plugging my tutorial, I would assume motor sharing mechanisms would fall under

since this would probably cover all manner of motorshare mechanisms.

Yes, we will likely cover

a. Diffetential PTOs
b. Slide PTOs
c. Gravity PTOs
d. Latch PTOs
e. Ratchet motor sharing/ptos
And maybe more.

Cascade lifts? I wanna learn about cascade lifts! Please

Our first tutorial, Gear Ratios, will be premiered to release on YouTube on October 1st, 2025 at 12:00 PM.

We are still looking for more tutorial ideas for the March 1st final tutorial. If you have ideas, I’d love to hear them. Right now, we have ideas such as “scoring blocks in goals,” “lifts” and an add on to our PTO episode (ratchet motor sharing). However, we still need more! Be sure to watch out for our next tutorials.

Thank you!

Do you discuss compound gearing? My son’s favorite part of any build is doing the gearing. He built a 6:1 compound gear for his team’s lifting arm this season because the 5:1 from the 12 tooth driving the 60 tooth was not as reliable over the course of several minutes as his team wanted, and the lifting arm in question is easier to use precisely with the slower gearing anyhow. The motors still get hot, but will last a whole competition now. Not having a 72 or 84-tooth gear meant he had build a compound gear system. It turned out to be compact and functions well. A whole notebook page is dedicated to it.

I did include a whole section about compound gears, I just put it under the name of “gearboxes.”

That’s great, thank you! I will have the team check out your stuff.

Vex IQ Tutorials - Volume 1 Episode 2 - Drivetrains has just been released.

Thank you!

It’s that time again! I apologize for the messed up audio in the last tutorial. I realized my editor multiplied the sound by 2500%… (not to blame him or anything, he still did a great job).

On December 1st, 2025 at 12:00PM our tutorial on pneumatics will be released here.

We still need recommendations for our March 1st tutorial. Reply to this post if you have any.
