VEX has had essentially five main families of robot control systems, listed here by their main Brain:
-
Consumer / retail products (VEXplorer, HEXBUG VEX Robotics)
- VEXplorer (2007)
- HEXBUG VEX Robotics Control System (2014)
- HEXBUG VEX Robotics Control System (2018), as used in Offroad Truck and the Balancing Boxing Bots
- HEXBUG VEX Robotics Control System (2019), as used in Build Blitz and Bite Force kits. This is almost identical to the prior 2018 system, except that we changed the custom connectors to standard off-the-shelf ones and added the ability to add an analog sensor to any of the four Brain ports.
-
Elementary (VEX GO)
- VEX GO Robot Brain (shares a common system architecture with the fourth generation (2019) retail control system)
-
Elementary / middle school (VEX IQ)
-
Middle / high school (IFI Robotics, VEX EDR)
-
Advanced (IFI Robotics)
Edit (2019-08-19): added the fourth generation Consumer / Retail control system.
Edit (2020-12-21): added the VEX GO control system
