Hello,
I just saw it mentioned from a moderator in a different thread not to talk about the Worlds location in that thread since it was off-topic. Since that’s the case, I’d like to open a thread specifically about the 2027 VEX robotics worlds location.
Does VEX currently know where it’s world championship is going to be? Is there a timeline they would like to follow in terms of announcing where it is?
Thanks for taking a moment for addressing this vital question that will help teams make the best decision for their program.
Thanks!
VEX Worlds 2027 is going to be held at St. Louis like it was last year.
I assume it will still be at St. Louis. RECF isn’t allowed to do anything related to VEX products anymore, so there isn’t any reason for the venue to change.
I’d provide sources (not trying to get into conspiracy or what not), because from what we know from RECF emails, RECF owns the worlds contract, and we haven’t seen the contract.
Can you please provide a source for this?
VEX Robotics will not have their 2027 World Championship in St. Louis. All of the RECF’s communications have repeatedly affirmed that they definitively hold the contract for the St. Louis venue (see this most recent one The Future of STEM Competition Starts Here: Introducing RECF Robotics - RECF), and neither have VEX’s communications made any claims to hold the St. Louis venue. RECF will host their own 2027 STEM World Championship in St. Louis for their own RECF Robotics Competition, while VEX has stated they will announce a venue location in the future.
Please be Louisville KY or Cincinnati Ohio
That is from May 9th, 2025 before the split between VEX & RECF. Since they are now split, RECF is claiming they were the organization that signed the contract in St. Louis, not VEX. If this is true, VEX would need to sign their own venue contract.
Current court documents contradict this. See the agreement between VEX and RECF.
RECF will need to say the following in all communication moving forward:
RECF is not authorized to organize, promote, approve, or manage VEX Robotics competitions. Any competition organized, promoted, or managed by RECF that involves VEX products is not sanctioned by VEX Robotics, Inc. and will not qualify teams for the 2026–2027 VEX Robotics World Championship
While RECF cannot host a VEX Competition, they are claiming that there is nothing stopping them from hosting a RECF competition which uses VEX components.
Please DM me if you would like help finding the court documents I am referencing. The link somehow got scrubbed after I submitted my post.
Where did you see that they are announcing it in the future? Knowing definitively that it isn’t confirmed yet would at least put a pause to the confusion until this future announcement.
It was a Facebook post by a GRSF employee that I saw reposted in Discord. The post did not include information about when to expect an announcement of the 2027 VEX World Championship location.
If its like Seattle *which it won’t
I would be lowk happy.
anywhere in Georgia is ok tho
Seattle would be fine… if you like walking 2 miles from the convention center to the Climate pledge arena.
Sizable venues in Columbus, OH, Cleveland, OH, Nashville, TN, might work
If worlds are not to be held at St. Louis, then do all the signature events belong to RECF too?
We have seen announcements from certain events who they will be running with. For example, MoA and Speedway are GRSF/VEX (still a weird acronym to me lol), and Highlander I believe is RECF. However according to the temporary agreement it seems that the term “RECF signature event” belongs to RECF.
Highlander Signature has an event posting on events.vex.com with their registration opening tomorrow.
Otherwise, yes, other Signature Events are yet to definitively declare for VEX or for RECF.
The thing with that is, travelling to those cities is ridiculousy expensive from my area. Like, 700 dollars for each team driving there costs less btw. I was kidding about Seattle but honestly, I like the idea of worlds being in the GWCC *Georgia World Congress Center*. But it might be kinda hard.
booking a really big venue on short notice will be very hard. I see Vex will either resort to international locations or book a smaller venue with no dome. I do want to see it hosted in Atlanta too!
