Bruh we never used flywheels for like 6 or like 4 years. Bankshot was the last. I think I sold some parts that are needed for the flywheel, thats why i am asking
Bruh just look it up. I doubt anyone here would give you straight up instructions for a flywheel. I would look at robots from NBN (long distance with squishy, foam balls), TP (toggle-able targets with hard balls), CU (lower rpm flywheels more focused on cycling at shorter ranges than farther ranges like in previous games) and Bankshot (more double than single; hard and bouncy balls) as well as some FRC & FTC games. I would recommend purchasing the newly released flywheel weight to lower your spin up and shot recovery times.
Looking it up is the hard part but thanks for the tips.
Not if you know what to look for
Also, I released a video yesterday on a flywheel for Pitching In if you wanted some ideas.
Finished a single flywheel bot today. will send photo soon
proud to present Klay junior
specs: 1:15 speed flywheel (although i think 1:12 would work too), 1:1 indexer, 2:3 2m drive.
The front roller has not been connected to the indexer yet
This does feature a lot of illegal parts like vrc intake rollers and non slip mats but they can be swapped out later for viqc legal things like hexbug plastic sheets to mimic lexan
The flywheel hood is rubber banded in the hope that it can go under the low bar but it cant and thats a really big bottleneck of this design. If anyone else is planning to make a flywheel bot, i would recommend a double flywheel because its more accurate and is less tall, like Joseph973’s flywheel bot
That’s adorable, you definitely nailed the mini-NbN look!
To make it legal, you could use rubber bands instead of the slip mat like in 2616J’s turning point reveal: 2616J Mid-Season Reveal
The vrc intake rollers could be replaced with tank tread with flaps. You also have 2 more motors to use for hanging, and I bet you could do something similar to how some change up teams released their hood, with a ratchet off of the flywheel or indexer to retract it. Looks neat though!
I also wonder if, due to the squishy nature of the balls, tread would work better than rubber band rollers.
It looks really cool, it reminds me of change up, I am working on two bots, one robot called Unlimited Power its a robot based on change up, and other robot named teeny titan its the smaller version of Unlimited Power.Teeny Titan is with low power but can go under the low hanging pvc pipe. Its quicker and can cross the field in 4 seconds.
My team has been working on a high hang then dump bot, do you guys think this will be viable if it has a huge ball storage? Right now we’re having issues with it actually getting to the center goal after high hanging.
This is why your posts get flagged, and you are not that well liked on the VEXForum. If you do not have anything helpful to say (anything that actively contributes to the ongoing conversation), then PLEASE do not say it. Your posts, although sometimes helpful, usually clutter up the forum and make it hard to reach/find a general consensus or solution in a given thread.
@Milo409B has been building one… His has insane ball storage
for me, I have issues trying to get a high hang dump robot to be short enough to go under the bar
is that V5 foam padding i see
but cool robot
Does anyone have ideas for teams who are just starting vex?
Where has Milo shared that?
I would suggest searching YouTube for “VEX IQ Pitching In” and seeing what comes up. Then check it out and see what other teams are doing. If you find a design that you think you could build, go for it! If you don’t see anything you want to try, you could try the hero bot, Fling (it does come with build instructions). If you are looking for a very simple robot that scores a decent amount of points, I would suggest this one because it’s pretty easy to build.
One more thing that is very useful to do if you haven’t done so already is to read the game manual as it will answer many, if not all, of you questions regarding the legality of various robot designs and how to play the game.
Good luck, and we’re happy to answer any questions that you have.
Discord, I know it for a fact.
Hey, @FRC973 my team is going with a massive hopper to get as many balls as possible, then go for a high hang and launch them all in with a flywheel. Could you show a video of how long it takes to launch like 20 balls from your flywheel? My team is deciding between a catapult and flywheel and speed is the determining factor.
