nobody in their right minda thinks the REC foundation is lining their own pockets.
rather, it is the pockets of the for-profit vex robotics that are being lined, but thats nothing new.

Yep, I don’t work for RECF, so I have no information about their financials.

Umm, no. I’m a volunteer, there is no dollar remuneration from RECF to me. I’m as much of a customer as you are.

Ugg, what is the deal on this? Dollar for dollar / pound for pound the VEX robotics line is super cost effective. If you look at other components from other companies VEX is at the lower end of pricing. (and please don’t give me the Raspberry Pi cost, you should really dig into their history to see how it was developed)
And a reminder that VEX makes all their money off of STEM products in Schools, the competition part is the “fun part”.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that you were being paid by the RECF as if you were an employee, I was just saying you work alongside the RECF (as a volunteer, like you said) because you and the REC Foundation have a common goal: to educate students about STEM through robotics.
I would love to see the very hyped-up #CageGang perform very well at the LRT worlds session.
I also agree with @djavaisadog in that a game with flying discs would be really fun from a competitor standpoint!

I am not going to virtual worlds. My team qualified at our state meet but it just isn’t worth it. $500 is a lot of money for a virtual event. For just a little more, my team can go to an in person showcase event. I am hoping to see a success in the events, but I think the finals will end with teams stuffing 8+ balls in a goal.

LRS is live remote skills. The other option is live remote tournament.

Live Remote Skills, and no. It’s just solo 3 driver and 3 prog. Hopefully it will be a very fun 3 driver and 3 prog, though.

…no. LRT is what it’s gonna be. Like the interface might be made better, but 2v2 is just how it is.

Your worlds experience is longer than just the 6 minutes of matches… That’s like saying your worlds experience in any other year only counts for the time you’re actually competing in matches.

Taran is correct. Based on the agenda, the World Championship has almost 24 whole hours (in fact I think it may be more) of possible immersion, but it all depends on how much you’re willing to immerse yourself in the tournament. If you get inspected, attend the parade of nations, watch every single match, and watch the award ceremony + game reveal, the cost starts to look a lot less than $1.39 per second. Heck, even without watching matches you’re still getting a decent amount of bang for your buck.

6 1 minute matches, or 360 seconds. with a $500 registration fee, that is $1.39 per second.
and this is not the same as IRL worlds. IRL worlds is so much more than just another competition.
