Why would a judge want to look at a replay? The game manual makes it clear that referees will not look at replays, either.

A Head Referee changing the results of a match after confirming it with the teams, walking away, then conferring with one team (not my own), and not listening to their pleas or speaking with them.
And the reason the change came about was because he looked at a video replay, and then actually got the call incorrect when he changed the score, which knocked my team out.
Also having the EP disregard my statements and claims that was against the rules, even after having my EEM inform them shortly afterwards.
basically at our first competition of tipping point we were in the round of 16 but during the match we were entangled for approximately 10 seconds and then we were pinned definitely more than 5 but they wouldnât count it (mind you I realize that they cant review match footage so there was no point with arguing with him). Then at our third comp the same ref made a bad call on us once again saying that our alliance touched the plat at the thirty sec mark when in reality the opponent push them into it (its on stream too but again cant review the footage).
This is not as bad as most of these other ones. During Tower Takeover with the crazy flipping trays were replaced the rubber bands that flipped the tray out. This broke the entire try flipping thing for most of the comp. Mostly is broke the auton which I had worked so hard to get working. and the tray would just not flip out. This was the first comp that I had even made a auton that did something other than move like 2 inches.
Last year at virtual worlds a friend who wasnât even really on my team was help out and gave the auton thumbs up. AND it wasnât READY. and it didnât work. The match got replayed for some reason I donât remember. Not like the auton ever worked during actual competition.
Earlier this season, our B team was in a round with a really good team against a mobi bot and another bot with a little poker (probably for the tall mobile goal). Anyway, as soon as the match began, the first thing the robot with the poker did was rip off 21417Bâs ring system, preventing them from scoring any rings on the mobile goal. The part that is really annoying is they actually meant to do it (as one of the teammates on the poker-botâs team told the driver to aim for the ring system). Hereâs a video of it.
This is actually the corrects call. SG3 is the only rule where G14 doesnât always apply.
I had a skills manager that I SPECIFICALLY told I was the programmer ran auton in-front of him and when I double check the scoring THIS.

Well, it is G13, which states that offensive robots will get the benefit of the doubt. from what I understand is that if you without a doubt purposely push them into the platform then it wouldnât count.

Our sister teamâs members had mostly skipped this one tournament so there was only 1 members how showed up this is important because the only member that showed up did not scout. So we get to alliance selection and they placed higher than us ( They later won state) . A team that was higher than us lower than them had agreed to pick us. Our sister team went down the line and asked both of us so we had to pick different teams. We ended up losing in the final with the backup. I still think that if we were with out first choice team we would have won the tournament.
This. This right here. I know itâs complicated but I think we can all agree that 1. Refs need slightly more training, and 2. Refs should be allowed to review video footage.
I was planning to alliance with a team I was friends with, and they ended up being the first seed. We peaked at 3rd, and when selections came around, we dropped to 10th. Right before selections, they came up to us, and told us they were being pressured by their parents and coach to pick the #2 seed. So they did. We got picked by #5, and lost to them 170-196 in bracket finals. Our group chat has become so hostile since then, itâs not even funny.
In tower takeover, the third ranked wanted to pick me, I figured it is fine since they were a standard trey bot and I didnât know who I would end up with if I denied. In the R16 I put up two stacks of 7, the only stack they had time to put up fell over. I thought nothing of it, but then the same thing happened in QF. I was a little annoyed since we were going up against the 2 seed in SF and if we didnât get 3 stacks we would guaranteed lose. So I told them that we would do all three stacks, they can just do towers. We got all three stacks up, but we lost since the two cubes they put in towers helped the opponents more than us. If they had sat there and done nothing in that match we would have won, but they hurt us.
Another time also during Tower Takeover just before finals we realized our lift motor might be acting up, so we tested it, and the light was solid, so we went into finals. The motor didnât work.
Turning Point: Weâre in the finals, everyone else has v5 but we still have cortex because our school is slow. Itâs bo1 but we end up tied so we go to a second match. Our robot only half works and we barely lose. Turns out we actually didnât lose because an opponent on the high platform had their battery resting on the low platform. Our allianceâs sister team saw this but didnât say anything. We made it to worlds off of skills so it didnât matter in the end but I still think about it a lot.
Host had her teams do skills the day before the comp. 3 of her 5 teams were in the top 4. 1 of them won it. She told nobody about it until the next day.
Which, in my opinion, isnât smart. They may actually be able to give accurate penalties and whatnot if they could rewatch matches.
If you had read my post, you would see that I was making no statement whatsoever about the merits of video replay, but rather identifying that Judges are different than Referees. Judges have no reason to watch video replay.
