I was disappointed that the new, lighter, less power hungry motors were not in the list of allowable motors. Is it because they really don’t exist yet or supply is low and they want them to all go to the new workcell community?
I myself am also curious about this. I was looking forward to seeing HS teams work with a dynamic motor limit and making tradeoffs between overall power and the number of individual power sources.
We were disappointed as well. It was an unfortunate a side effect of the global semiconductor shortages.
First it gets our graphics cards and now it gets our baby motors
Rip the nine motor dream.
That is unfortunate but definitely seems like the right call to me under the circumstances. If the new motors aren’t widely available yet, then I think ruling them out for now is preferable to the random lottery of “who can get ahold of the cool new parts” à la early Turning Point.
Hopefully the supply issues will be resolved and teams can do cool things with the 5.5W motors next season!
Is that part of the reason for eliminating the pneumatics penalty?
