What is Grant Cox' middle name?

Hi,
I’m not really sure what you mean by “quacky” idea because QUACK is an amazing organization filled with members from all over the world. We all strive to contribute for the struggling ducks of America and soon the world. So I don’t think it’s a “quacky” idea.
Additionally, please sponsor QUACK. Thank you and stay QUACKTASTIC,

Sincerely,
QUACK :hatched_chick:

owning this thread and therefore being able to choose the solution is fun. @Grant_Cox I will give you the solution only if you change your middle name to start with a D

I would just like to point out that he has had that name for his entire life. Why would @Grant_Cox change it on the whim of several teenagers and young adults? I mean, it would be fun and all literally being Mr. GDC, but reasonably, I think we are putting our hopes too high. Getting a water game is more probable than getting a man to change his middle name over the sake of pleasing a few people for the pure enjoyment of calling him Mr. GDC literally.

Of course! I just tend to think on the more practical side of things. That’s all.

I would think that Grant changing his middle name would be more practical than a water game…

You got me there, but then again, even I can not resist the temptation of such a game. For the water game, I will

@Dimension_360, what you said sounds like something perfectly reasonable from the traditional western point of view. However, if you look at it from different cultural perspective, you may arrive at surprising, almost opposite, conclusions.

Yes, he had it, but it was given to him by his parents, likely without any input of his own. That is not the case in some other cultures. For example, according to Native American naming traditions, children earn their name and it could change several times during their lifetime.

Consider another example. When young woman enters a marriage she often feels societal pressure to accept the last name of her husband. One could argue that she had her own name for her entire life, but now she is losing it on a whim of a bunch of adults who like to formally call the married couple “Mr. and Mrs. John Smith” virtually non-acknowledging woman’s own name, which is an unfair double standard, imo.

Some may offer a counter argument that the couple wants to share a name out of mutual respect and love for each other.

Well, it looks like VRC crowd is mad about Grant Cox. Are those feelings mutual? And what makes this name change logic acceptable in the first case, while clearly absurd in the second?

From the technical point of view, and I apologize in advance for hurting everyone feelings, VRC water game is impossible in any observable future because of the VEX equipment total incompatibility with running or standing water. For the majority of school age kids, SeaPerch is as close as you could get to the idea of the robotics water game.

Now, getting back to the earned names… In my opinion, this petition discussion is almost pointless, but not because Grant Cox is unlikely to apply for the legal name change, but because he has already sealed his fate on May 14, 2020 at 47 minutes 58 seconds into the “VEX Competition 101” webinar:

Without further ado, let me say aloud what is, probably, hiding in the subconscious of the majority of people who watched the webinar:

Mr. Grant “DiscordIsaScaryPlace” Cox

a.k.a.

Mr. GDC

All of these items you guys are discussing seem to be unknowns. Let’s discuss the items we are sure of. Grant (unknown) Cox stands for GDC, thus his middle name must start with a D. This means that his middle name is most likely one of the most popular boy’s name starting with D.

Obviously his middle name should beDiscordissascaryplace, like Technik3k suggested, or Daniel as Dan Mantz suggested.

His current middle name starts with a J

I’m personally partial to this one
