last year, I was working on making a T3 climb for states. I almost got it to work, but then when testing it I forgot that it wasn’t tightened properly and it fell down and the entire bot bent. So, we had to remove the t3 mech and spend our time fixing the bot.
Recently, a sister team’s bot rolled off a high table when one of the team members were goofing around and turned their auton code on when the team wasn’t looking… T_T
Similar one here… My old sister team from elementary had finished their robot and they were testing it. But, one of their drive team members held the controller with her arm. (This moved the joysticks to random positions) Little did she know, the program was running, and the robot fell off the table it was sitting on… thankfully, my friend caught the robot as it was falling… it didn’t break somehow.
We once had someone(may or may not have been me) place the robot on the edge of a table, we went to lunch… Took us about 20 min to reassemble it. Luckily only about 1/3-1/2 broke, some of the structure survived. Safe to say they don’t trust me with the robot anymore. Or maybe they started not trusting me after the second time I broke it
Our brain WOULD NOT CONNECT head ref who had 5yrs experience didn’t know how to link a controller and I TAUGHT HER HOW TO and she started messaging her vex friends and they didn’t know either and we tried 10 CONTROLLERS and eventually after 30min it rebooted and worked after clearing data twice, etc. still, we got into finals and our alliance ended in 4th (not bad considering our robot was dismantled by a kid from the year below right before the comp) yeah we’ve been through a lot.
During Worlds inspection, they measured the thickness of our plexiglass which, mind you, had NEVER happened to us before! It was 0.03 inches too thick, and we failed inspection. In a panic, we ended up cutting the lid of a plastic container to remake all of our plexiglass pieces. It worked and passed, but it was definitely the most stressed I’d ever been at a competition…
V5:
In one of our comps that we won by 40 we got Disqualified because we flipped another team robot who was ramming us so we used our 6 motors and hit them and they flipped. The also had a very very unsturdy robot
Then later on during a match we should have won our battery came unplugged and then our clawbot teammate got flipped
Worser scenario we our controller broke mid finals in High Stakes so we couldn’t place the mobile goal in the corner as our controller broke and our buttons stopped working making our allaicne 1v2 so we missed TC and we could of qualified for states like earlier.
This didn’t happen to our team, but instead our opponents, because right after auton our alliance partner tipped the first robot (unintentional) and the other one tipped itself. We won with a VERY VERY VERY slow scoring robot 100 to 10 (they won auton)
This isV5 but i still think its valid
It was SemiFinals in our qualification. We were inspected before the event previously, and we fit just fine, I changed nothing. The opposing alliance had our robot measured and it was out of size for some odd reason. I dropped my dremel and the blade was like at a 45 degree angle, and it still cut the shafts on our drive which were “too Long.” Me being not smart, i picked the robot up and with in 5 seconds I dropped it and got burnt and stabbed by a metal shaft. We finally fit and we still won the semi finals. (One of our moddos is “WE DID IT IN SIZE” now) Fast forward to awards, they said that a category in the Exelence award was ‘perseverance at the event’ and they didn’t give it to our team. I GOT STABBED. After I got cut, i ran to my pit as soon as it happened. Luckily I’m OK. I didn’t run to my pit to grab car keys to go to Kroger to buy some milk while it’s still on sale, no. I ran to grab a bottle of cold water for my hand.
