What laser cutter do you use that is good for cutting delrin and is pretty cheap? I am trying to find which one would be best for our school.
None, laser’s aren’t meant for Delrin. They produce fumes and other toxins. I would use a CNC or do it by hand.
Oh ok, so do you know cnc machines that are good and cheap?
you can you just have to have a fan. But what you can’t cut with a laser cutter is poly carb. that is a big no no
that’s good to know. But if i was to get a laser cutter with a fan that which one should i get?
Whatever Shapeoko fits your budget is genrally good. You could also try an omio which I have heard are good but I don’t personally know
Laser cutters can cut Delrin (acetal) sheet quite well. Yes, fume extraction is a consideration, but it can be mitigated safely.
We have a Glowforge Pro that we use for a lot of things, including cutting plastic parts for VEX. We have had it for several years (actually we have had several, swapping them out for replacements a couple of times). There are a lot of good things about the Glowforge, but I’m not sure I’d go with one if I was buying something new right now. I think the xTool product is very intriguing. I haven’t used any of them, but they seem to have good reviews and something like the xTool S1 might be a good fit for a robotics lab.
