What part would you like vex to start making

Just wondering what’s a part that you’de love if vex added. Mine personally is a pneumatic motor that hooks up to the solenoid the same way as the pistons. Excited to here your ideas!

Maybe a part that can be easier to pick up the beams.

A motor with gears already added and can control torq!

Probably pieces at different angles… Like this

a 20 X 20 (10" X 10") or 18 X 18 (9" X 9") plate. This would work well as a base on top of a drive train that would still meet the usual 11" dimension limit

a passive cooling device for motors

Pieces with stonger holes that don’t wear out from the shafts spinning too much.

That would be helpful

I feel there should be more than two angles of triangles. Also there should be different sizes. And I think they should have corner connectors whose ends are double long, like the different sized pins. Also, since there’s 3 by 3 pins, there should be 3 by 2 and 3 by 1 pins. I’ve also had thoughts about a pressure regulator for the pneumatics, that can regulate up to 60 psi. And I’ve thought about having hydraulics that are like the pneumatics, but more powerful. Maybe scratch the hydraulics but the other stuff, especially the pressure regulator, would be really helpful.

They make standoffs extenders that are good with axles and reducing the wear. There is a model that has square holes, so the entire extender spins. Some extra friction but little wear. - But I get the white dust issue.

Foster’s wish list

My biggest thing is to have existing parts available in SKU. Like the little wheel 2x2 center offsets. They have basic uses (wheel and gear support) but are awesome for doing extensions (as seen in Huey). 1x4 crank arm, roboteers want to do stacked fingers on claws. Any of the standoff connectors like the 15 degree adjustable one and the truss standoff. The internal gear sun gears. Lots of the parts that only appear in Hexbug kits.

One of the parts is the ball capture / ball part. It makes it super easy to build a two wheel robot with a ball pivot support.

Speaking of standoffs, my current wish is the standoff extension with a 2x pin.

Cross shape standoff connectors.

I’d really like to see a 6 way connector ( https://cdn.flexpvc.com/cart/html/images/6waysmall.jpg) or any of the other “furniture grade” connectors.

A 4x16 or a 4x20 offset trapezoid plate would make for great rails for chassis. That gives some extra height to be able to mount a motor along the top and do a chain drive to the wheels on the end.

84 tooth gear. This exists in V5, (276-2169) just allow the SKU as part of VIQ. Under 30 minutes of GDC work to put it in the allowed parts list.

Double 2x wide 3x2 corner connector. (I want the 3x2 corner connector with pins on both ends)

I’d also like to have idler versions of the gears (or again be able to get the idler gear 36 tooth gear).

I don’t know what to call this, but a gear type with the teeth chamfered or filleted in the places I circled in this picture would be nice for transmissions and PTO’s:

a part that held the pneumatics tank or shorter screws

New part: I would like 1x2 → 1x6 beams with all of the 1/2 pitched holes drilled.

If you look at the 1x2 beam, it has a hole in the middle at the 1.5 pitch location.

I want beams with holes at all of the x.5 pitch locations.

So the 1x3 beam would have 5 holes. (1, 1.5, 2, 2.5. 3) .etc.

EDR had this in beams and plates that made the times things didn’t align work out just fine. It was their 1/4" line of products, now-discontinued 1/4" Pitch Metal Kit (SKU #276-2157) that was available in catalogs around 2012

decore for the bots so you can have fun with it

better high strength bearings smh

High strength bearings in VIQ? What would that look like?

I know this is a VEX IQ thread but I’m gonna add some stuff for V5.

  1. An EPU (External Processing Unit) for the brain that allows it to run code faster or just any way to increase the speed at which the brain executes the code. (I work with blocks and I got the idea to create an AI for controlling the robot during matches and the faster the robot can execute the code the faster the AI can react and make choices or otherwise the faster it can “think”)
  2. Motor with higher torque than a red one.

Apologies, I just now saw the topic  I was talking about the VRC bearings because IMO they aren’t that great…

for IQ, I don’t know if they even really need High Strength shafts/bearings? If so they would have to be predrilled I think (somehow someway because some might not know how to drill…) and just have them already circular.

V5 stuff is fine, I just play in IQ so I naturally selected that swen posting.

There is one part that will give you a 1x4 with the additional holes - the 1x4 low-profile end lock beam. Caveat being the end hole on one end is square - can use idler pins to utilize it though. My son watched a video of various IQ mechanical devices recently and loved the Scotch yoke. He went ahead and built one but using standard 1x4 beams for the yoke was clunky. The low-profile beam ended being more elegant. That’s when I noted they had linear x.5 pitch holes. But I agree having 1x beams of various lengths with the same hole setup would be great.
