while talking to judges i moved the front arm with my hand and herd the gears pull out of alignment. i heard that this happened mentally crapped myself and then realized the judges had no idea so i just told myself “the arm isn’t broken” “the arm isn’t broken”
next match comes around and power of will was not enough to fix my arm.
i convinced myself so hard i forgot to fix it
So I’ve been experimenting with different drives and this year I decided to use an x-drive. Little did I know that by using this drive I would become spoiled with the movement it offered. So after qualifying for state I decided that I wanted to improve my design. Well, little did I also know that I would be using the much-needed space up front for a clamp. As I broke out in a panic not knowing what to do for a solid month, I realized that meccanum wheels exist. So here I am a week before our state comp. stressing out about getting our bot finished in time
I built my entire large bot in 48 hours practically alone and stayed up for around 50 hours straight. Not the greatest bday, but definitely a unique one.
I redid my teams clamp, after someone replaced it with literally just a flat, only to discover that the flat was for a locking mechanism. Not really a brain fart, but kind of sucks.
I started a practice skills run and then just stood there for the minute. I think my brain just blanked out and forgot that you have to drive the robot in order for it to move
my coder and i were running our 60 second auto and we got to a ** point and it kept stopping so we kept changing the code from time based to degree based to bangbang to whatever the hek else we were doing until he got mad threw a ring at the robot and said whatever i do it just keeps magickly stoping at 15 seconds.
at state in our finals match we had 15 seconds left and we were down by a lot so our alliance decided to park and we stacked one under them, but once the timer ran out the goal they had posessed fell and was hanging off the edge, but the fields were lifted so they didnt know whether to count it or not, they didnt count it and we lost that match.
we were just running some scrimmage matches with our own teams (tipping point) and our platform wasn’t screwed in all the way ig, so our driver had accidentally turned it like out of the field, and for some reason i used my knee to try to straighten it back out lmfao.
At our first tournament, I had misread the platform rule, thinking you couldn’t come in contact with ROBOTS in the last 30 seconds. I felt pretty stupid after that day.
I’m getting flashbacks to our semifinals match that day. We lost by 9 points. Nine. Points. We would have won the match and probably won finals and gotten tournament champion if they didn’t get that 30 point bonus lol. Honestly I don’t think the violation even happened because you misread the rule, none of us (my team or your coaches) told you to get out of there when it hit 30 seconds, so you probably thought it was 45 seconds left.
My entire team when we learned about SG3b at our second tournament after getting pushed into the opponents platform by their robot at 28 seconds and then losing by 11 points because of the 30 point bonus.
Edit: The more brain fart part of this is when we decided to use this as an advantage in our next match and we got called for a G1 violation. The ref had given a warning to the team that did it to us previously when we learned about it and we completely forgot that it was being ruled as a G1 violation.
