Spacers are my favorite building material in vex
However drive spacing can be not fun
“Hey, just put a plastic robot in the metal robot competition!” - Team member who does nothing and makes me do two roles on a team
Anyways my biggest mistake was doing 8th grade robotics as a 7th grader…
It’ll change for the better next season though.
Wow that is just hilarious that you didn’t see the guy above you lol
I did the same thing lol
Our first VA comp in December '21 we were the only MS team in the comp. We barely squeaked into eliminations and were the 16th seed alliance. Lucky for us,we faced off against the 1st seed alliance, who just happened to be 2145Z Pink Sparklee Unicorns. We were miraculously winning when, at 27sec left, we ran into 2145Z’s platform. We lost by 14 points.
At states, we got word that our matches were running ahead of schedule and we needed to queue up. So we hastily downloaded our code we were working on. At the match, none of the controls worked and the auton was non-existant. Turns out we unplugged the download cable while the program was still downloading.
update did same thing at states in semi-finals and almost got dq’d (we still won) idk why Im such an idiot.
And what’s worse is we couldn’t fix the issue because our next 3 matches were within 5 minutes of each other so we lost them and our slot to eliminations.
We will never do that again.
Trying to get my Inertial sensor to spin to a heading and having it correct it self. I swear If i can’t get this done before worlds I’m going to lose it
I once tried to build a robot without consulting the Purdue Sigbots Wiki with knowledge for competitors at all levels.
Making a entire X drive in IQ only to realize that the coding language is so flawed that you cannot move motors with the controller if it is not in the config… (at least in our version, I have done it on the web version but some school setting prohibits us from updating)
shameless plug

Oh my gosh, there is nothing more annoying than having to steal admin codes to update vex code
If you follow @tfriez you’ll see that the latest version of code should not need admin codes
What? I don’t follow
Ah, no, what I meant was that our school does not allow apps to be updated or installed without being approved by the admin, and the admin for our school kinda hates our robotics teacher so she takes forever to get it updated.
Ahh, ok. So the change by Tim Friez was to use the standard (80/443) ports for the VEX updates, not a special port (that would also require admin setup). Sorry that your admin isn’t helpful, have you tried cookies, Krispy Cream Doughnuts or other treats?
