What style of base is best for over under

What base style is the most viable for this game?

Try different things and figure it out for yourself! If you need a good place to start, try here. Document all of this in your engineering notebook, and you will be well on your way to a design award.

A good one. Probably one with wheels, too, now that I think about it.

Assuming you mean drive base, remember to use the forums search bar to search for topics similar or even the same as yours. Look up keyword “drivetrain over under” and you will find tons of resources.

Definitely check out the website @VexThirteen suggested and conduct tests and record your results in the Engineering Notebook! You can also look up on YouTube some robot reveals and get an idea. It also depends on what your goals are for this season.

Shape of a base… Hm… Most teams pursue a rectangular base shape but I have seen triangles, octogons, and every now and then teams will go for the “stationary robot”

4-6 motor differential tank drive on any wheel size is what’s worked best this season. Holonomic drives (X/H-drives) haven’t been effective due to the requirement of going over the center bar. This thread has a list of good drive gearings if you’re looking for that.

In terms of shape… uh rectangle?

There is no “most viable” or best base style. You want to know what’s popular go watch YouTube, there is a good number of videos out already.

I would recommend to look at some robots and find ideas. There are plenty of robot reveals on youtube. Also think of what tasks you will need your robot to do and think about how to achieve them. I’m sorry if this sounds rude or its not good advice.

Lots of ways to move with out wheels. A walking bot that can step over the center barrier would be cool. It might not win a match but it could win an innovate or create award.

It would not.
