We’re redoing our intake because it keeps bending. My friend told me to research if plexiglass or polycarbonate is allowed for VEX V5, sanded. We would also like to know if we can make our gears stop skipping.
The answer to the title: none.
Plexiglass is not legal in VEX Robotics, however polycarbonate is, you can get from Robosource or really anywhere else just make sure it is not thicker than 1/16 of an inch (you can stack multiple though as long as each piece is no longer than 1/16). You also can sand the plastic as needed.
For a list of other plastics and other rules regarding plastics please see the game manual rule R19. One other common plastic is Delrin/Acetal and I know Robosource also offers ABS in addition to the other plastics.
Make sure you gears are messed together to make sure they don’t skip. Feel free to post a picture of your set up so we can see what might be the problem. Some people use zip ties to keep axles together (not the best idea and also bad for friction). I use plastic gussets on my intake just to keep everything together and low friction. Also make sure nothing is cantilevered.
Thanks! That’s really helpful.
