What V5RC parts would you like to see VEX sell?

It would be nice if they sold different colors of mesh and polycarb. It’s so hard to find poly that isn’t red, blue, white, or black, and being limited to black mesh doesn’t look good sometimes.

btw you can just buy clear poly and then spray paint one side, works good

Replacement screw-on caps for the 5.5 Watt motors.

I would like VEX to sell an attachment that goes on top of the Competition switch that automatically enables/disables and connects to TM so people don’t have to buy an entirely new system

Get magnetic breakaway cables. Problem solved. Also, they will connect either way… no orientation required.

Brushless often has startup issues under high load and can fail to start.

Bigger pneumatics tanks or at least higher-pressure tanks

Eh, that’s really only for sensorless motors. My guess is that if Vex were to do a brushless motor, it would be sensored, although that would likely come with a price increase.

I would like vex to sell individual solenoid cables withouthaving to buy a whole 50$ solenoid just for the cable

USB c batteries, vex electric screw driver and vex pump

Hot-swappable 11W (and even 5.5W) motors. Designed to click or lock into their motor mounts so teams don’t have to use rubber bands and zip ties to achieve similar.

Robot fan/cooling system (maybe something Robosource can take on).

The weight limit idea would actually be neat, as it also benefits teams and organisations, as motors overheat less with less weight to carry. However the 3d printed wheels idea wouldn’t work, as to have any strength the most you could print is traction wheels, and 3d printing fumes would be a big issue, as the stronger filaments produce toxic fumes when printing

I’ve 3D printed a lot of things… especially stuff for my RC aircraft.
A well designed part I could ram from the sky into the ground and would survive. Lot of 3D printer filaments out there that are great for wheels and have good traction. With some assembly and small steel rods for axles you could make a great omni or mecanum wheel.

Only ASA, Nylon, ABS, and PC releases toxic fumes. Even then, most enclosed 3D printers have air filtration systems, and most people usually print harmless PLA or PETG (which are strong filaments in and of themselves). And after they’re printed, they don’t present any health issues.
Lasercutting certain plastics, which is currently VEX legal, releases much potent fumes than 3D printing does. Yet many teams do it.

The only thing I would be worried about are CF or glass fiber filaments. They’re rarely used by hobbyists, and I doubt schools would let students print them, but they do have microthorns that irritate skin and airways after printing.

Its also especially worth considering that modern PLA+ formulations, such as Polymaker’s PLA Pro and Polymax lines, are actually stronger than basic ABS and ASA. Overture Super PLA+ is also an incredible PLA filament, and all of these can be printed with no enclosure, no warping, and no toxic fumes.

I need ts microusb is so buns cuz I have to like position it in a very specific angle for it to just connect

vexu is honestly mid like in college there are so many more technologically advanced stuff u could be doing. vexu is literally less advanced than ftc and middle school kids can do ftc

1.Structural Pipe

2.Check Valve

3.Partially Threaded Screw

Cool - more details would be helpful!

1.Structural Pipe

Compared to C channel steel or angle, square tubing has way better strength, especially torsional resistance.

2.Check Valve

Prevent gas backflow, making pump will be used

3.Partially Threaded Screw

When the shaft is in use, it will experience less friction.

4.Lighter air tank

Even a plastic cola bottle can withstand 100 psi.

5.Proper Motor Cooling

I can’t think of any reason why VEX would enclose the motor in a heat-insulating casing.

6.Remove some hole on structure

These holes will lead to stress concentration.

7.Terminal Block

Why does VEX use telephone cables to drive motors? Securing it with screws will make it more stable.

It is much better than what we had before
