Why did you join robotics?

I was just curious why most people joined VEX. Personally, I didn’t really want to at first, but ended up liking it.

I thought it was battlebots, and read the entire SU game manual as such.

I thought it was too nerdy for me (I was also a nerd) until I joined and unlocked my inner-nerd !!! jokes aside I have a passion for making things and I didn’t know what I would be useful for so I joined and so on.

I’ve been enjoying coding/building stuff since I was little, then in 4th grade I joined FLL and loved it, I did two years of it and switched to V5 which is also really fun. My favorite part of robotics in general is when, after spending hours or days on something, it finally works and all of your effort pays off.

Just simple arduino projects were too boring, so i joined a v5 introduction class and thought it was fun, so i joined the competition teams.

Short and sweet answer:

Robots are cool.

I agree with this person. Also all my friends did it so I joined them

My parents convinced me to join IQ in 4th grade, which I continued through 6th grade. I was considering quitting because V5 seemed too hard, but I decided to try it for a year. I liked it, so I will continue with it for as long as I can.

that’s pretty much why my friends joined but my mom forced me to. I was so mad but ended up liking it.

One of my friends that did VEX since 3rd grade(he got to worlds his first year) asked me to join. I love doing VEX now.

Much like a lot of other people, parents made me join in 4th grade, I loved it, and now I’m in middle school doing V5, and I still love it.

I did the class since one of my favorite teachers wa teaching it, and got really into it

My brother did it and so when I started hs I followed in his footsteps

because my mom forced me too but it was fun overally and the competitions were cool and lots of things to learn and its possible for credits so yeah.

It was my first year of high school and I wanted a class that wasn’t just sitting at a desk. Plus I was familiar with VEX because my middle school had an after school IQ club (Which I wasn’t a part of but some friends were). I have also been coding for a while and wanted a real world use for my skills.

I loved and still do watching mark sober videos and I thought it was the coolest thing ever so I signed up for the team

I love Mark Rober but I wish he went to VEX worlds instead of going to a FIRST competition

I know but first in my opinion is more engineering since you have to choose materials and its a lot more custom stuff

My mom found a paid robotics program. And she made me go and I enjoyed it a lot just because I love to fix things, build things. After a ton of robotics classes. I finally started doing Vex Iq competitions. It it was a boy of experience and a lot of work. But the most important part is the amount of fun that you get and the experience you get.

I started because my parents encouraged me to join around 3 years ago and it looked fun so I joined.
