Greetings! I met a serious problem when some part of the gears of my robot start to make clicking sounds and went stuck on one side of the chassis leading to driving issues… Me and my teammates checked every detail on the gears and made every changes including changing gears from thin to thick, the arragement and motor… However the problem still exists after so many generation of my robot I’m eager to know the reason and ways that I can fix or avoid the situation. lots of thanks!!
A video or picture of your set upbwill help hs help you.
Sounds like your gears arent meshing properly which could be from poor alighnemt orshaft deflection under higher forces
See if your motors are spinning in the same direction, otherwise it could be the gear spacing.
Thank you guys I’ve read all your comments and they were really helpful! I checked my chassis today and found that the two sides of my gears’ “tightness” were different. The left side was easier to operate while the right side was more like “fixed”. I guess that’s mainly because the screws and shafts that connected gears deflected in some ways that I didn’t noticed. Also I remembered that I once mis-add slight spacers on one side causing the gears meshing in the wrong way. On the other hand, I do recycled some of my gears when upgrading the new robots, and these gears are of coursed waering which might be another good reason. Additionally, I want to say that ALIGNMENT IS VERY IMPORTANT!! Careless and indifferent about this problem punished my team to rebuilt our robots hundred times… Some components will be deformed due to uneven alignment forces, or will not be able to achieve the original function, and the time cost of modifying the robot in the later stage will be doubled…T^T
