Why doesnt vex sell 48t gear?

I was looking to buy gears , but looks like Vex doesnt sell 48tooth gears (regular ones, not High strength)

Any reason why this is so?

They do… the page has 48t gears u just have to scroll down

no. they are the high strength gears. we need the regular sized ones. Look at the gear kit as an example of the width we want for the 48 teeth

Yeah I’m pretty sure if you want to use a low strength 48 tooth, you have to cut a high strength one and sand it down.

That’s seems highly inconvenient, given the high strength ones have metal inside them. Sanding or cutting, how do you do it with the accuracy required?

One of the VEX MEs probably has more details than I do, however, this is my understanding.

The original gears date back to perhaps 2007, could be even earlier. Other than change of color, they are pretty much the same part sold now.

The 24T and 48T high strength gears were first introduced as part of the EXP education kit and then made V5 legal and sold individually.

So the reason low strength 48T is not available is that VEX has never manufactured 24T and 48T original low strength gears for the V5 system.

Use a lathe, lathe it down to the metal and hacksaw the metal

you also do not have to hack saw the metal depending on where you use it. Just try cutting down part of the outside. Also, if you don’t mind me asking, where are you using it?
