please put another option saying that it not be cancelled
- Or would the season be continued
it would not let me edit it
Is this what we want to happen or what we think is going to happen
Do you expect your team to be able to compete in Change Up 2020-2021?
- Yes
- No
the season is not going to be cancelled. it will look different than usual seasons, smaller events, no audience, fewer events, outdoors, maybe even virtual skills competitions, but the season will not be cancelled, everything that vex, gdc, and recf has done has indicated the intent to have the season progress.
I sure hope not! Vex is my favorite extracurricular activity and I would be really disappointed if it got canceled. Also comps are great places for my introverted self, to use some social skills. (Since quarantine hasnāt helped much with that
)
I can relate to that. Iām usually much less introverted than usual at competitions for whatever reason.
I would really super suck if the season was cancelled but safety is important! Wearing mask is gonna be really needed! Also breathmints will be needed because of mask breath (which is totally real btw)
I do not think it is a matter of if the season will be cancelled (it will not, it has been launched, events are being run in NZ and I assume elsewhere). The real question what does it look like in each locality as risk factors vary greatly. EP Summit is next week, so there will be a lot of discussions between RECF and EPs about what the season might look like. I would wait until the summit is over and then have discussions about the season on VEX Forum.
You are new to the forum and reviving a lot of topics with no real information added. I am not sure what your motivations are, but I would refrain from posting and read for a whileā¦
I am sorry, to all Iāve realized Iāve been a little giddy with talking. I just want to make some friends. Itās never been my plan to be spam mail, I just wanna be nice and friendly
Weāll definitely see a slower start this year and a different format as some countries are still yet to recover and there are talks about a 2nd wave. But I do not think the entire season will be cancelled/postponed and most likely by 2021 everything will be back to normal.
I think this is hilarious. But in al seriousness would this be legal. Iām mean if not the judges donāt have to know.![]()
Pretty sure this would fall under <G12>:
We are starting to see that second wave so idk when maybe the season start maybe @DRow or @Grant_Cox may know what might happen for this season
first of all, this isnāt actually a second wave. the cases went up, then they stayed about the same for a while, now theyāre going right back up again. they never really went back down enough to call this a second wave, its just more of a increasing onslaught.
also the future of the season is not fully predictable by anyone. and neither DRow or Grant will be able to tell you anything you donāt already know, as they cannot predict the future either.
Yes but regardless of how little everyone knows right now, whether or not the season is fully predictable or not, decisions have to be made because of all the logistics of holding events.
Yetā¦
Those decisions where the events are being held. EPs make all the venue arrangements. Currently, in Massachusetts the largest indoor gathering is limited to 25 people at most (1,000 sq ft per 8 people needed). Will see how specific guidance for school events and extracurricular shapes up. They have yet to be published by the state education department. Also each school district will have its own rules about facilities use. It may well be buildings are closed each weekend for deep cleaning each week. The local Board of Healths will also have their own restrictions.
A lot of focus in discussions here are focused on team safety. Running events also brings in scores of volunteers into the equation. Think about all the game objects that get handled during field set up? field setups - perimeters, foam tiles, game elements, etc. Lots of pieces get put together and it takes a bunch of people. During events teams want to talk to one another to prepare for alliance selection. Judging, refereesā¦
RECF and VEX are preparing their recommendations for how to hold safer events.
We have a proposed schedule for the season, but can not move forward until facility availability is known and local constraints.
I can sleep at night, since there is not much more that can be done at this point until we get more information from local/state government.
The judges might be quite interested, especially if it is well documented in your engineering notebook. The REFEREES however, would disqualify your device according to G12. Please donāt interchange judges and referees, they do totally different things at a competition!
