For those of you at worlds next week, a few tips, mostly related to the V5 brain, to help you get through inspection quickly and make VEX engineering happy.
-
Make sure the V5 brain is running vexos 1.1.5. This version is mandatory (manual <R15b>) for worlds, it’s been out since last September so there really is no excuse for not having it installed. If you know the brain needs an update, perhaps it has a broken USB connector, come by the tech/software support table prior to inspection for help.
-
Make sure the V5 controller firmware is up to date, the simplest way to check this is to tether the controller with the V5 brain (which is on 1.1.5) and it will update.
-
Make sure batteries are updated. Every year we see multiple batteries which need a firmware update, this will show as an orange screen when the V5 brain is powered on. Connect the battery charger (with the battery still powering the brain) and press “proceed” to update the battery.
-
Don’t mount the brain in a position where access is difficult. We see brains mounted with the screen towards the floor, battery cables that can not be unplugged, no SD card access etc. If you want engineering to ever help you it’s important we can easily access the V5 brain. If you have field or radio issues and we cannot access the brain to look at logs then we cannot help you.
