I’m just gonna assume everyone’s sad about worlds being cancelled. So I’m frustrated about it so I just want to have a discussion about the cancellation. So be free and vent.
After organising a trip halfway across the world for 10 to 13 people and living in limbo to see if it was going ahead or not I canceled our trip yesterday. so I’m weirdly relieved that it’s been cancelled. Thank you RECF for a great program
(alum here) I know how devastating it must be to have world’s cancelled, especially for seniors. But we just gotta remember in the big picture this is the right call. Worlds will happen again next year, and I strongly recommend going/volunteering to experience the energy and everything.
Hang in there everyone!
I’m really ticked that they canceled it. I just got out of Winco after an hour and a half of waiting in line, and I found out half an our in. I was fuming for the rest of the time.
Well it sucks to finally reach your dream then have it ripped away from you
I saw my friend, senior year, work like harder than anyone ive ever seen and it would have been first time his school would ever make worlds. I just feel bad for him
Im sad

Although I am sad, I still think the decision to cancel worlds must have been a difficult one and . I think it was the right call as many countries and states could not attend and it wouldn’t be a worlds with half of the world attending. Also the possible risk of spreading the virus would not be worth the risk. And before someone says that the virus is not harmful to us, it may not be, but to older people it is, and I think the REC Foundation made the correct call in canceling the competition. I agree with @JADE8232 that
I worked my butt off this season, went through three notebooks, and had a really good bot. I really thought my team had a chance. Just goes to show what one person not washing their hands can do.
And now I’m super depressed.
Great, another thread about worlds. Just the thing we need…
I’m upset too, but to be very blunt, it really sucks. We all have our reasons, me included. However, YOU WILL SURVIVE WITHOUT VENTING ABOUT IT. Man up, y’all.
yoo wheres my graduation gang at
Not everyone is like you. Plus some are graduating and might never be able to do it again. Mind your own business and let them do what they want.
I had an excellent team this year and I promised them we’d make it to worlds. We would have by our skills score and we were all so happy. There’s always next year though.
I know quite well that many teams have a completely legitimate reason to be severely ticked off. Totally get it. We have have a good amount of that over in my region.
The difference is in the reaction. I know this is not what you or anyone wants to hear, but no one is entitled to griping.
I vent too, but the main reason for my post is this thread (However badly some team want it ) is that it really has no business on the forum.
Furthermore, I doubt all the people who worked to make worlds a thing are happy either. This thread isn’t helping that.
My point is, put others first (a character trait known as humility). Does this thread uplift and encourage teams who are dissappointed? Or serve any genuine purpose? I never said that we can’t be super upset, but why burden others emotionally and mentally (they’ll continue to think about and go down a “negative spiral”) with a thread about it?
Side note: the “Man up yall” is referring to the fact that VEX offers many chances to mature and prepare for the real world. One of these is handling disappointment. I’m trying to push us all into a small step of maturity.
Also, I’m genuinely confused about
Not sure what this is referring to, but ok.
Need I say more?
Thank you for this I’m sorry for starting this thread I should have thought about more than just the teams who made it to worlds. I appreciate and will most likely make a new thread which is more encouraging for everybody.
There is nothing inherently evil about the thread, it just doesn’t serve a good enough purpose to exist. No worries, just don’t start threads unless you need to.
OP requested this thread closed.
