@Dave Flowerday Are there any plans for the future that would enable easily porting data from Vex Via to a spreadsheet? (An API like the VexDB has?) Unfortunately, while Vex Via has the info, it can’t yet be accessed from Robotevents or VexDb, so I had to copy/paste directly from the PDFs, which doesn’t preserve tables, meaning I had to re-convert back into tables from raw text in order to make it usable. You get the point - its a massive pain. I know the data exists in an easy to use format - I’d love to see if it can be made available for everyone. Thank you!
What data are you looking for? The same mechanism that publishes the match list to VEX via also publishes it to RobotEvents.com. RobotEvents.com makes the match list available as a .CSV file at the bottom of the results page.
Dang, I never knew that existed. I feel stupid lol. CSV is wayyy easier than the mess I just went through. Thank you! I’ll use that in the future.
Another question: Is there anyway to live update something (i.e. a spreadsheet) with that csv file without having to pull the file every time manually? I would typically do this with VexDb, but currently when I do a “get_matches” request for the event SKU, it returns an empty array. LINK Is this a VexDb problem? @nallen01
I’m digging through the robotevents site and I believe that by using something like XPath in google sheets to import I could target a specific division’s CSV and import it. Would this work well? I’m not handling tons of data this way and I’m limiting the number of requests to the server.
That’s just because I don’t start fetching matches until the event is actually close to starting. Worlds is one of the only events that lists match schedules very far ahead of time as far as I know.
I’ve manually told it to fetch the match list for worlds events though, so they’re there now.
