Yeah, but as long as you are making the majority of your shots a few mis-shot rings in your opponent’s low goal shouldn’t matter
I honestly don’t think they will, they generally try to be nice to lower-skilled teams, and it would be faster to shoot disks, so you would have a choice between a faster more difficult strat, and a slower easier strat. We will have to wait until the game manual releases to find out though.
How will we handle the rollers? I don’t exactly understand how they work. Also, does an alliance start on the same side as it’s high goal or low goal?
Looks more like the Mario Coins to me
Where did it say how many auton points you get?
Goals are on the opposite ends, and to rotate the rollers you could probably make some sort of roller of your own that you put against the roller to turn it.
It didn’t talk about auton points. So what you mean is that is blue starts on side 1 it’s high goal is in side two?
yes
20 characterssss
Auton win point will actually require a good robot and code this year. . .
So you know how if you miss your net shot, the disc will land into an area that gives the other team 1 point? What if the opponent just directly shot into that space? Would that be a DQ or would that give them points? I could see this being a viable strategy for lower-level robots if so.
Rope has also been an option in previous years. Speaking from experience from our wall bot for Tower Takeover, it’s not that hard to put plenty of rope on a big spool and let it out behind your robot.
Just finished 4 years in vrc, this game looks so cool kinda sad I can’t participate. At least my juniors will have fun
I really enjoy the completely new precision based concept. Im a bit skeptical on whether or not though the new meta will have super horizontal bots and how teams will deal with the strict horizontal size regulation.
Ok, Initial thoughts:
- Really creative ways of scoring. Many different aspects are unlike any of the recent games, the tiles, the rollers, the way the disc’s score for the opposite alliance if missed.
- Many of the mechanical aspects are really difficult. Intaking and shooting discs? Intaking and shooting discs accurately so that they don’t score for the opposing alliance. Manipulating rollers? This will be really hard for beginning teams. Especially at the middle school level, I think pretty far into the season simple bots with good drivers (one that can’t do high goal or rollers) will have the ability to be really really competitive.
- The autonomous win point is really, really hard. I fear that it will be largely avoided because of minimal worth until worlds.
- On the subject of win point, if my fear is not true it is really good for one main reason, and that is rollers. The rollers are very difficult and can easily be overpowered by discs and tiles. The AWP gives them more importance.
This whole game could change depending if you can enter the area under the goal or not, its the difference between shooting and dropping them into the goal.
sooooo 8m push bot time?
interesting to note that the game video has gone back to being 3D animation as opposed to live action video.
If I understand the video correctly, I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to act as a pushbot and push frisbees into your own goal.
The two big question parks for me are if the “auton line” is actually an “auton line” or a “cross this before the last 10 seconds and get DQed” line, and if vertical expansion is allowed. I expect both of the answers to be no, but it isn’t clear from what we’ve been told I think?
My prediction is 18" vertical expansion limit and 36" horizontal prior to the last 10s.
I have a hard time imagining this is the case…
looks back at sg3 this year
Yeah no nevermind definitely a possibility. Man I hope it’s not though.
I wonder if two robots are on the same tile, will they both get points for it? I assume that if they are on the different teams they will both get the points, but what about if they are on the same team?
In the game reveal video, they clarify that there is no horizontal expansion limit (in the last 10 seconds)
