Historically, robots using tank tread have tended to underperform. I’m pretty sure there will be fantastic solutions to the middle barrier using only a combination of omni/traction wheels
I am actually quite confused by all the discussions about how difficult it is or how impossible it is to fit some many triballs underneath the goal.
But since the definition of Goal (in the manual) is the 3D vertical projection (see Fig 16 in manual), then shouldn’t placing the triball on top of the net counted as scored as well?
In the same sentance you highlighted, it says the vertical projection is bounded by the pvc pipes, not the net. Being under the net is just a condition each tri-ball has to meet in order to be scored.
Yeah, that diagram is not great. Also note that only 2 vertices of the triball need to be inside the vertical plane, so there is a whole outer row around the goal that can be largely outside it, but still scored (and protected by rule). As soon as you push the object up to the goal bar such that two lower points are inside the goal, it is scored.
From what I’m gathering from the rules, a solo win point is extremely difficult as you have to score a preloaded dumpling from the defensive side which people are saying is not likely without a lot of force or precision. Am I interpreting the win point wrong, or is there no way to achieve it by yourself without shooting the dumpling across the barrier into the goal?
I will extend my point about the triballs at the perimeter with two points inside the goal… this is the tipping point SG3 waiting to happen. Object is scored and you play defense on the bot adjacent that is scoring more but knock out that barely scored object… gonna be a problem.

It looks like a rectangular block to me - with the height bounded by the highest point of the net.
It makes a big difference whether the goal is defined as a rectangular goal (as shown in diagram) or bounded by the surface (which is sloped).
If it is the latter, then yes, technically we can only score under the net.
But if it is the former, then we can score over the net (maybe that’s why it is called Over Under? ) and the volume of the goal is effectively x2.
Solo win point is not possible this year.
Note: Triballs which come to rest on top of a Goal may be retrieved by a Drive Team Member from
the Alliance Station adjacent to the Goal in question. The Triball is then considered a Match Load
for the Alliance who retrieved the Triball. This momentary interaction is an exception to rule .
In rule as shown above, it is stated that triballs that come to a rest on top of the goal are basically no longer in play and can be used as match loads for the team closest to the goal. Anywhere under the net is deemed a goal (pretty sure, I’ve read the game manual 3 times since yesterday).
Right, which is why it is not a good diagram. As @Mentor_355U highlights in the manual pic, must also be under the net.
The win point can be achieved by a combination of both members of the alliance contributing. If you are saying what I think you’re saying, the only way for it to be possible for a single member to do it is if you start on the side with your match loads and launch them into the opposing goal. You could maybe get 3 shots off before being required to elevate. I’m also taking the wording of “alliance’s goal” as the goal the color of the alliance.
I think you’re mistaken and it’s not a solo win point. It is granted to both members of the alliance if all 3 tasks are completed. This being said, you can’t always rely on your teammate and therefore a auton of launching around 3 triballs is your best bet if you want to try and gain this win point consistently.

There would seem to be an edge case where you put the triball into the triangular area over the horizontal goal bar and under the sloped net bar such that two points of the ball are inside the plane of the goal and under the net == score.
If you’re outside the goal it’s not a problem. If you are bumping into an opponent robot and it’s in their offensive zone, the refs will side with the offensive robot as stated many times, though.
A better idea would be large wheels offset lower from the chassis so the center of the robot straddles the middle bar and is around 3.5 in off the ground until the second wheel comes up. This could be used kind of like a car goes over a speed bump, on a much larger scale.
You might not be able to shoot into the goals but you could shoot a tri-ball to the other side of the field and your teammate can put them in the goal
