The torque decrease from a 11w motor to a 5.5w motor isn’t linear, the 11w motor has max. torque of 2.1 nm compared to 5.5w with 0.5 nm max torque

I am so dissapointed. Not only did I really want a shooting game, but this stacking game is so buns. I really dislike the fact that Vex is now entirely limiting the creative freedom of teams. The ONLY reason teams were good enough to create tier 3 climbs in high stakes was because of custom plastic. Not only can we not express our creativity by not being allowed to color our robots, but we also can create our own parts from poly like we used to be able to from a large piece of plastic. I miss the old vex honestly. Not only does this game just suck as a whole, the majority of teams creative freedom has been removed. No color, no custom license plates, no more than 12 pieces of poly. What the heck.
Really, vex? You just had to ban painting and dying? What did this do, make robots 0.001" thinker giving teams AWP when they wouldn’t have otherwise? Did you even think about the teams with dozens of dyed gears before banning them, making us buy all new ones?
These color rules are going to cost our independent team so much money. Thank you.
Ok clearly something must be wrong with the GDC. What is the point of banning colored parts other than greed. The only reason I can possibly think of behind this is that they want teams who already have colored their parts to buy new ones. There was nothing wrong with colored parts, so why did it need to be changed?! This is all coming from a guy who doesn’t even use colored parts and just feels bad for the way this community is heading. Might be a good time to switch to frc or ftc.
Im honestly worried for iq’s game as it could be similar to mix and match which was in all honesty kinda bad because of the way that your movements had to be pin perfect to get it on the stand off and even then it was hard to even get your robot to lift high enough to actually put it on the stand off, now this might just be my team but we do have a chance that this could be terrible
After reading the manual, I want to clear up some things.
How is the 55W limit defined?
The limit is defined as Subsystem 1. All the motors that move the robot must exceed 55W, but the overall limit is 88W.
Those motors can’t power any mechanisms outside of that subsystem, so power-takeoffs or differential power setups are out.
Inspection: During inspection, teams may be required to demonstrate exactly what each motor on their robot is capable of powering to ensure they are in compliance with this limit.
What if I knock over a tall stack? How is that determined?
Rule prohibits removing Scoring Objects from neutral or opponent-Alliance Goals. Since knocking over a stack effectively removes those objects from the Goal, it’s a violation. If the Head Referee decides it was intentional, egregious, or Match Affecting, you’re looking at a Major Violation and Disqualification. If it’s your own Alliance Goal, you’re not breaking rules, but you’re definitely losing points.

Dw bro, I was overreacting. I actually think well do find as now I have the rules and that makes me understand the game a lot better.
The GDC needs to give an explanation to why they banned colored vex parts. Incredibly disappointing rule change, especially for teams who have all their parts colored as now they will need to spend hundreds of dollars obtaining non-colored metal, even if it is just for one year of Vex. This rule change feels very unnecessary and more like a cash grab by Vex than anything. Please do better, the community is incredibly disappointed by these changes.

That’s only for the drivetrain though. They did that to prevent a lot of worlds teams from reusing the same drivetrain for the millionth time.
I feel like that is a decision that teams make by themselves. What you are saying is completely true, but that is part of the engineering design process. If I notice that my robot keeps ripping because it is going too fast, then I am going to swap out to a 4 motor chassis. Also, 66W chassis aren’t always only for speed. Sometimes they are geared down for strength, which is something that teams might need this year with that king of the hill type component.
Im seeing that there is no motor limit for VU based on VUR11, but does that also apply to subsystem 1?
