Bro I got cooked in the mix and match game why does there have to be another stacking game, i might just have to stick to robofest
So I havenāt messed with any game elements yet, but Iām wondering if there is going to be anything against just going over to another tower and knocking it over.
Do we know yet the ruling on just tipping a stack over? Intentionally or accidentally?
Who is ready for the Document release tomorrow!?
I donāt know about yaāll but Iām really excited for the rulebook.
People who know pushbot metas so they ignore the middle.
the people who know the top strat, so if descoring is allowed, boomā¦
Me in vex iq captain on my first year of vex, and the next year, you are vex v5 and iq captain
.
Mix and match flashbacks, help me
Does anyone have a 3d model of the game piece yet? We were not able to make it back inside to buy one, so Iām hoping to print one so my kids can start getting a feel for it.
this is here for anyone who needs to to see next years field elements
Wait until everyone just decides to use one of the china bots from the china sign in August.
We are so cooked. The game isnt even hard but there is a 55 WATTS LIMIT!!!
The issue I have with the game is not the complexity (ok maybe it is that a little bit), but mostly itās the fact the new teams are going to be so screwed. There are teams coming into vex for the first time ever (my team was like that) and have no previous experience with robotics. And throwing this on them is not a good idea. Iām not saying that introducing new stuff isnāt good, but vex needs to have tutorials or some way of teaching new students coming into it. I know they have a website, but itās not always helpful. This might be different in other countries/schools/teams, but I live in Canada and go to a public school, and first year I had no help and the vex website wasnāt very helpful either.
I really want to come in and sincerely thank the GDC for this game. As everybody who knows me understands, the biggest joy I get from Vex robotics is the engineering challenge, and outside of IQ, I have felt starved of that.
Specifically with Over Under and Push Back, while they were very well done from a game design perspective, they did not really allow for viable complex engineering to happen. This years game is truly different in that, by its nature, it looks like there will be a place for mechanically complex robots to have a real edge over robots with less intricacy, which brings me much joy.
On top of my praise for the game, I want to add that a lot of the complaints about this game seem to be coming from a place of expecting something very different than what actually released; I would advise the community that the GDC is not required to make a shooting game every other year, nor is it required to conform to any traditional expectations. I really think that most people, when deciding to have an open mind, will truly love this game.
I think that the 55 watt limit is reasonable, because the hight limit is 50in faster drivetraines will be subject to tipping more often. By limiting the amount of motors one can use, it make tipping during matches less likley
Itās going to be awful if there isnāt a penalty to knocking over towers.
The last true shooting game was Spin Up. There will be people who started vex as freshmen who are graduating without playing a real shooting game. I donāt think the GDC should be required to make it a shooting game every year, but weāve waited a while for one.
well, you canāt actually pick up an entire tower, and they interlock, so you cant push it down easily, so i donāt think you can
I wonder if you could get away with stacking the pins with an algorithm so that you never have more than two pieces in possession I know there is a post here on that maybe that could be a strategy to get to the 50in max expansion during the game?
@Jellybotzrulez Well, the tipping aspect depends on how you design your robot. If itās top heavy, it will be prone to tipping. If it is more bottom heavy with some sort of counterweight for your lift, then it will be less prone to tipping. It also depends on how hard your driver decides to drive that match. (I should know all to well.
