I think a discarder would be important, because of programming skills, the balls are going to constanly be rolled around, and you will ineveitably take in one of the blue balls. If that happens and you’re already at a goal, you can dump it out the back ,automatically with the vision sensor

I don’t think that the intakes flip out at all. I think they start in spec.

Their intake doesn’t flip out, it’s under 18”
Hood is mounted on a hinge, it unfolds when the top roller spins

Hi kenmac, welcome to the forum. There are only a few robots with build instructions, and most of them are fairly basic. Here are instructions for Crunch, this year’s starter bot: https://content.vexrobotics.com/docs/276-8001-755-Web_Rev3.pdf
For more advanced designs, you will have to go through the design process and make your own bot from scratch.
