We are excited to announce the release of the freeware - VEX STEPmaker 1.0.1! This update follows the initial 1.0beta version and enhances your ability to create customized VEX parts in STEP format and to CAD assemble your VEX robots more efficiently and precisely.
What VEX Parts Can VEX STEPmaker Create or Modify?
VEX STEPmaker, utilizing the functionality of another freeware FreeCAD, enables you to cut Angles, Bars, Channels, Shafts and Plates, to bend Bars, Plates and Plastic Sheets, to thin and cut teeth of Gears and Flex Wheels, and to form Rubber Band patterns and Chains.
Why VEX STEPmaker?
VEX STEPmaker is designed primarily for students and teachers of VEX teams but is also valuable for anyone involved in robot CAD assembly using STEP files of VEX parts downloaded from vex.com. The developers identified two key potential needs:
- Assembling a VEX robot often requires custom-sized parts in addition to standard-sized ones.
- Not everyone interested in robot CAD assembly has the time or expertise to learn CAD software for customizing VEX parts.
Installing VEX STEPmaker:
To install VEX STEPmaker, download the software and ensure that FreeCAD 0.21.2 on your Windows computer. Please also reference the FreeCAD path in āSettingsā menu of VEX STEPmaker.
