Any overunder robot/strategy ideas

So you use a program called Onshape for VRC CAD design. Is it free?

They could be used for low torque applications such as some intakes, and it allows teams without access to pneumatics to have an alternative that isn’t a full 11w motor.

Onshape is a free browser based cad program that can be used for vex.

That is an engineering problem that you need to solve.
Vex is about engineering solutions to design problems that they create every year with the new game.
It’s sad to see that most new vex competitors first thing they do when a new game releases is to go to the forums to ask for ideas.
Drawing inspiration from other’s robot reveals is ok, and sometimes hole counting is a good decision in order to stay competitive, but I’d like to see a change in the vex community where students actually approach design challenges with the “engineering design process”, rather than copying top bots.

It is free if you are a student

Yes, as long as it is being used for educational purposes

For any teams using this I would recommend not using the rear claw to pick up acorns but instead to assist with climbing.

Is anyone actually going to do the climbing part of the game? If you look at starstruck not many teams even bothered to climb at the end. All a team need to do is get four more tri balls to cancel out the 20 point hang. I am thinking that the match will be won before the hanging part and it really won’t have much effect. I am open for opinions on whether this is a valid strategy.

Those who chose other (quite a lot), what do you recommend?

Here is a strategy I don’t see anyone talking about, what about goalie for opponents goal so they cannot score, if you secure a lead & don’t double zone it would be a guarenteed win no matter what opponents do.

or just use the new less powerful motors lol

Im doing:
6m drive
1m four bar but only two of them, close to a clawbot arm
2 5.5w intake.

Climbing with have a pneumatic locking clamp, and be linked off the drivetrain for better torque.

Starstruck was z sum unprotected scoring, so the time spent hanging was time the other side could dunk on you, often for more points than the hang.

This year is different for a couple reasons. Main reason is the goals are protected so you can leave to hang without risk. Secondary reason is if you elect not to hang, you are giving your opponents 5 extra points by effectively increasing their hang tier by one.

So, yeah, if you are ahead by 45 points in triball scoring, you can ignore the hang. I suspect scores will be closer than that and you will need to elevate just to maintain a tight lead.

Spin Up’s string explosion was showy and had the exciting potential for 84 points, but it often ended up being a much smaller differential when you subtract the opponent end game. Those 12-18 point differentials decided close matches.

if you want to use a cad program to cad a robot use protobot. but the only problem with that is that it is windows only =(

Where does it say that on the manual??

Small and light is the way my team is deciding to go with it. As well as some way to throw the balls. Other than that, not much rn

Rule SG2

Once the Match begins, Robots may expand, but no horizontal dimension may exceed 36” (914.4 mm) at any point during the Match.
a. This limit refers to “horizontal” expansion relative to the playing field (i.e., it does not “rotate with the
Robot”). For example, Robots which tip over during a Match or change orientation while Elevating
are still subject to a 36” horizontal limit.
b. There is no height limit on Robot expansion.

Rule SG2

Do a search for “vertical expansion”

So yesterday I saw this video , Team 3141 RI -3Y | Vex Over Under - YouTube by team 3141- RI 3Y , Do you think this is gonna be part of what you guys decide to do to cycle acorns over the wall
